A wonderful afternoon spent at the Jolly Sailor celebrating a family members 90th birthday. The whole experience was 10/10. The food, the service was exceptional. All 28 of our party had a terrific time. Our server Faye was exceptional. You will thoroughly enjoy the ambience, the food, the drink and the prices are so reasonable. Absolutely recommend.

Very busy, which made it a vibrant atmosphere. My fish pie was very good and my friend loved her meal, which I think was a Mediterranean pie ... apparently the pastry was delicious.
The serving staff were brilliant, but the deputy general manager, who is at present a Fletcher's Arms orphan, was very attentive! :-)
The beer selection looked quite eclectic too, which I like. You have to have variation!

This was the best carvery I have had in ages. The quality of the food was second to none. The meat melted in your mouth, the vegetables were perfectly done, the gravy delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cost quite amazing. Recommend to everyone and we'll be back next time we're up north.

My food was very nice, hot and I enjoyed it.
My son told me his food from the carvery was cold. Definitely not warm. I told him he should have said something to the staff.
I will be going back.

The venue was nice, with pleasent staff whom were attentive. Food was ok, most of us had the carvary. The meat was excellent however the veg was a little dry and the cauliflower cheese didn't have enough sauce in it. For the price it was OK and I would try it again as I have only been once and it had been recommended by a number of people.

We have driven past this place for years and never had the time to call in having had many recommendations to give it a try.
This Monday evening we had no excuse and wow we were we blown away with the food and service.
We both tried the burger off the specials menu and were really happy we did. Excellent and great value.
We couldn’t get over how busy the pub was for a Monday evening - says it all really.

A very welcoming bar/restaurant. Was very busy for a Tuesday lunchtime but once served was very understandable as to why! A great meeting place for friends and family to have a splendid lunch as reasonable price.

We enjoyed an amazing meal at the jolly sailor with great service from the staff. I had the chicken burger and my girlfriend had the lasagna. Burger was much smaller than anticipated, and much smaller than other pubs in the surrounding area that I have eaten at, but was very tasty and served with some of the nicest fries I’ve ever had. Lasagna was great too, very creamy and served piping hot with some beautiful garlic bread.
We accidentally dined on quiz night, however the speaker system wasn’t too intrusive and we were able to enjoy our dinner before it properly started and became too much of a distraction. A great pit stop for a pint too between bramhall and davenport.

We wen to jolly sailor pub for our takeaway Sunday lunch and to be honest I have been in this pub many times before and only wrote a review once it deserves reviews of me more often Molly and Indira amazing customer service skills, I am sure India was the manager as I seen the way she interacted with her staff how gentle she was directive and light heartedness. Food was beautiful service was amazing 🥰🥰

Decent pub with good staff, the senior staff especially. A few of the more junior bar tenders need a bit of a heads up to try serve people in order. I find if you don’t stand in and
around the pillar on the bar where the till is you can be waiting way longer than you should be. It is rare though. Everything else great.

We have eaten here on many occasions and never been disappointed. The food is excellent and staff are great, making it a friendly atmosphere, even at busy times. There is a wide ranging menu and always a selection of specials adding additional variety to your choice. A warm welcome is extended to children, so whether you are celebrating with family & friends or just treating yourself to not cooking at home we would recommend that you give the Jolly Sailor a try - your first visit won't be your last.

Cannot fault the steak,it is by far the best, however the service today fell very short. We eat here regularly, and there would ordinarily be 5 stars....today was busy for the restaurant, however our order was placed after being informed of at 20 minute wait. That was gone, after 40 minutes though, nobody came to let us know that our order was on it's way. On arrival, 50 minutes later, the food wasn't as well presented, but tasted delicious. After a little wait for condiments...no one returned to make sure all was ok, and no apology for the extreme delay. Hope it is a one off, this is a lovely place to enjoy food and drink with friends and family and it would be a disappointment to many if the service were to let down such a treat. Weekday evenings haven't proven to have a serving issue, the usual staff are wonderfully attentive and helpful.

Overpriced and a mistake with every meal we have had there. The beer is excellent - good choices and well-maintained. The decor is fine and the place is very clean. The young waiting staff are very polite and attentive.
However, the food is exhorbitantly priced for the fayre and we have yet to have a meal without a serious mistake. This time the wrong sharing starter was delivered and a medium steak was served well done. To be fair the issues were rectified, but by the time the steak was redone everyone else was finished!
A number of reviews have mentioned the treatment of children. I strongly commend an establishment wishing there to be certain behavioural standards for kids I.e. No shouting, running around, etc., but the starting mentality of the managers appears to be assumption of guilt before action.
All in all. Just not quite good enough. Great beer, overpriced food and an inability to get the basics right... like serving the right food at the right time.

After messing up our food order (only 2 steak sandwiches with mushrooms so not to get right) they took back the food, after a 35 min wait still no food. So we asked for our money back and left hungry.
Not impressed. Bad service this pub has really gone down hill. Won't recommend it to anyone.

Friendly staff greeted with a smile, great place for all ages. Pool table to the back of this airy, clean, well designed, tastfully decorated pub. The food may be a bit more pricy than say the Ladybroke but it's all freshly made and it's really fab...so it doesnt compare.. nice portions and something for everyone..even the die hard slimmers. Give it a go. We tend to pop in at lunchtimes and it has a nice buzz about it.

Food to die for the best pub food I have known....... Manageress spoils this place and has a reputation that leaves a lot to be desired..........she targets anyone with children or pets observe her for yourself !!!!!! she stands out and please air your views or here so others can see for themselves.

Booked Sunday lunch for a family birthday meal, never been before, delicious meal, lovely staff - nothing too much trouble. Will definitely return!

We booked a room for after a funeral. The staff were well organised and helpful. It was good value for money. The buffet provided was excellent. Wonderful!

Fabulous food ! The Sunday roast is gorgeous and the homemade Yorkshire puds are the best. The staff are lovely and nothing's too much trouble. Love it.

13 of us enjoyed a lovely meal from the Christmas menu. The tables were a little awkward as one couple had their back to half of us but it didn't spoil the evening. The food was gorgeous and very generous portions. The only minor complaint i have hence not 5 stars is the coffee out of the machine is never very hot, apart from that can't fault it.

Second visit on a Saturday night (under new management) tried to get in a few times before but fully booked. Food was lovely. Pleasant staff and both times the singers have been surprisingly good. May become a regular.

Nipped in with our 8 month old for a spot of lunch. They got our order wrong at first which wasn't a problem however we then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes on top of the 20 we'd already waited. Nearly an hour in total for 2 steak sandwiches really isn't acceptable especially when you have a baby with you. Such a shame as this used to be a great pub with great service.

Always good friendly service, and the food eaten here on several occasions the prices are not too expensive me and my friends love the way we always get a warm reception from all the staff

We visited the Jolly Sailor today and were horrified with the way we were treated. We were made to feel very unwelcome because we had children, despite the fact we were sat outside and they have a children's menu. I wish I'd read the reviews from other families before we went.
I feel sorry for the chef because the food was nice, but the landlady is driving customers away with her 'health and safety policies' and miserable face. No happy children allowed.
P.S I took a picture of their stinking overflowing bins too which is a REAL health and safety matter.
Message to the landlady: bin the kids' menu. It sends out mixed messages.
P.P.S You've lost the custom of 6 families and that's before we all spread the word. Such a shame.
Peter Holland
Just read some of these comments absolute joke the staff are lovely polite food is excellent if there busy they will tell you there's a 30 min wait like any good busy restaurant would always recommend 10/10 alround

We visited here yesterday in search of a late lunch and were more than happy with the food, service and atmosphere here :-)
After travelling locally and only finding carvery on the menu, we we thrilled to find this 'little gem' who offered the full menu and what a choice!
The home made cheese and onion pie, home made steak and kidney with mushroom pudding were so tasty, the chips.......... Well now, they were gorgeous!
We will definitely be going back and may even bob up for quiz night soon.
All in all we were more than satisfied with the whole experience.

Sadly I attended a funeral buffet here but the atmosphere was most warm and welcoming and the hot and cold buffet just what people needed as we celebrated the life of a very dear and loved friend in November.Belated thanks to all invoved .
