Review The Woolpack - Stoke Mandeville

We stopped here for dinner and had Sunday roast. We had to add an extra person at the last minute which was no problem, even on a busy Sunday afternoon. Lovely food and great staff, special thanks to Martyn who looked after us. Thanks again.

Lovely gastric pub, nicely decorated. Outdoor seating at the front and back. Lots of seats in the bar area, and also a smart-looking restaurant area. Food was also very good. They ran out of a couple of things, but I like that because you know it’s fresh!

Quite an upmarket establishment, you would feel underdressed in jeans and they have a sign out front asking you not to wear sportswear, vests and workwear. The kind of place you'd take your grandparents or parents out for their anniversary. The prices match the atmosphere, and while the food is pleasant they were out of the pork main so we had a couple starters instead, but I was not bowled over. The main that did arrive, fishcakes, was lovely but would not have been sufficient without a starter also. It is dog friendly from what I saw, although I would keep them outside and only if they were very well behaved. Staff are great and food arrived promptly, we went for an early lunch, 12:30, and were the first people in although several more groups arrived as we were eating, it clearly is quite popular even on a weekday. This building is partly wheelchair accessible, the bar area is quite crowded with different floor levels and little manoeuvrability as old buildings are, but the main dining area had enough space.

A couple of dishes were sold out, but a fantastic restaurant to spend my 44th birthday at

We love the woolpack. Our local pub, a great little stop off or a night out all year round! The staff are really friendly and food always delicious. Today we stopped in for a cheeky dinner, Martyn was a fabulous waiter and was very attentive. The food prepared and cooked for by Mo & Thomas was faultless. So tasty and fresh. Thank you all x

This British gastro pub was a good choice for dinner. They have a variety of items on the menu. I had the pork belly and scallops which was a tasty meal. We ordered wine from a reasonably priced wine menu. The decor was pleasing and the service was okay. The fish and chips were quite good. Fish was crispy. The fried cheese appetizer was very good.

Everything was perfect. I can't fault it in any way. The staff are friendly, professional and welcoming, the premises immaculately clean, and the food as good as anything in the West End, a huge step above the usual "pub grub, all superbly cooked and presented. We enjoyed one of the wines from your list, the Australian Barossa Shiraz. For the food, service and ambiance offered, prices are not excessive. We look forward to returning.

Really nice looking pub. Recently renovated so really looks the part. Great selection of drinks and food. Sadly priced a little too high based on the food quality (and quite pricey for drinks too), but a good place for an occasion.

The meals were very nice and enjoyed by the three of us. It was quiet but then you don't expect anywhere to be packed out on a Monday afternoon these days. Staff were friendly and supportive and made the afternoon enjoyable.

What a beautiful experience. It was my first time dining at The Woolpack. The pub has recently gone through a refurbishment. And what a beautiful but homely feel to it. It's a lot spacious than I had imagined. The decor is amazing. The fireplace at the front and middle is spectacular. A great focal point for diners. The waiting staff friendly and professional. The service was a little slow but my food came out in good time (that is the main thing as I was hungry). Dessert was the highlight. Apple and blackberry crumble with vegan custard and ice cream. As well as a Salted Caramel Billionaire shortcake with vegan ice cream. The portion size was manageable. I left feeling completely satisfied. The only grumble I would make and this is a personal preference, the heating wasn't on. I like feeling warm. To all my VEGANS, don't forget to ask for the vegan menu. They won't give you one unless you request it. Their menu has some tasty dishes. The Coconut Curry 😋. If you are looking for that country pub feel with good food, The Woolpack is your spot. As a historical building, there is so much to know about it. The waiter told me, the building is older than USA, amazing. Overall, good value, good food, exceptional customer service and good atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

The staff were very friendly and efficient and food delicious. I was especially happy that my mother and I were not at any time addressed as ‘you guys’ but correctly addressed to as ladies by your staff. Well done!!!

The attention as we arrived was perfect. Ordering drinks and our food was perfect. The delivery of our meals was perfect. The time between our main meal and dessert was too long so we declined any pudding.

Booked for Sunday lunch, met by friendly staff and seated quickly. The roast was lovely! We ordered sirloin of beef and a trio of meats, both meals were delicious. Attentive staff and nice relaxed atmosphere.

Served by a really friendly, helpful guy called Martyn. Couldn’t do enough for us and had great banter. Food & atmosphere excellent but rather expensive wines. Amanda

We visited the Woolpack on Sunday (3 days ago). We've had Sunday lunch a couple of times before, at this pub/ restaurant. It's clean and smart and usually busy. It's very nice for children as well as adults, as it's spacious. There's a restaurant area, as well of an informal pub-like seating area. Nice fireplaces. GREAT food, and lots of options. They don't use nuts in their kitchen. The loos are very nice too. Outside, it's lovely - there's an outside seating area. Would recommend this for anyone: romantic couples, families, elderly and youthful types, as well as children. It's expensive.

Me and my fiancé had a really lovely meal here last night. We couldn't fault the food or the service, it was so nice to go somewhere and have an amazing meal! Would definitely recommend the melting chocolate orange bomb, it was divine.

The food was outstanding but we were disappointed in the service. This is one of our favourite places to eat but the waiting staff seems to have gone downhill. They were pleasant enough, but just not very attentive. We arrived and were ignored while the gentleman showed another member of staff how to correct her mistake. A simple 'I'll be with you in a moment' would have been better than nothing. If the service could step up to the quality of the food, it will again be a fantastic place to go. We will not be visiting for a while unfortunately.

We had a fantastic celebration meal there last night. With 2 out of our party of 6 with specific dietary needs, the staff were fantastic in accommodating that and providing excellent information of the contents of the whole menu. Our waitress was brilliant, attentive without being over the top and the pace between courses was relaxed without feeling slow. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely recommend

The food was amazing, but the service put it over the top. We had Aiden as our waiter and he was fantastic not only with our toddler, but also with myself (a cheeky American) giving him a hard time. He was delightful, funny, and made the meal even more pleasurable. Thank you!

Had my birthday lunch with my Daughter and 2 Granddaughters, lovely food, good service, would definitely recommend to friends and return

A lovely 20th wedding anniversary meal. We were offered a table outside in the sun which we were told was none smoking, what a result for a pub to offer two different outside areas for smokers and none smokers. Unfortunately people started vaping! When I asked the waiting staff they said it didn’t bother them, it bothered me!!! Smoking and vaping are the same thing!! Very disappointed

Went her for the 1st time for lunch yesterday as a birthday treat from my daughter... Was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the restaurant is! The waitress was attentive and very helpful and the food was fantastic! Will definitely be back for a second visit!

Nice atmosphere, lovely friendly staff, especially our waitress Jamie who was very efficient. Food was ok, I had a roast , the beef was slightly over done, pudding was lovely ( chocolate brownie with ice cream) but overall a nice afternoon !

The vegetarian food is cooked with the meat and fish!!! So beware not even the fries are actually veggie :( Please do not rely on the (V) on the menu. Dreadful.

Quite busy on a Sunday evening - the menu was limited as they had run out of a few things. We had an OK burger and spit-roast chicken, with average service.
