Best fish and chips in Stonehaven. Breaded Haddock to die for and chips are spot on. Only waited around 15 minutes on a Friday evening which is good given The Bay are a longer wait time and not as tasty 😋
I recently visited the Carron last Weekend.
One of the first things that stood out to me was the price - it was very affordable and offered great value for money.
FISH
Moving on to the food itself, the fish was cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior that added a nice crunch to each bite. The fish itself was tender and juicy, and had a great aroma that was not overpowering.
SAUCE
What I really appreciated was the variety of sauces that were available, all of which were homemade and added an extra layer of flavor to the dish. And if you choose the medium size with chips, you could choose two sauces which was a nice touch.
MARS BAR
I have to say that the Mars bar was a pleasant surprise. Although it's a chocolate bar, it wasn't overly sweet or cloying like some other desserts can be. Instead, it had a nice balance of flavors that made it enjoyable to eat.
Overall, I would highly recommend giving the Mars bar a try when visiting CARRON. It's an unexpectedly delicious treat that rounds out the dining experience nicely.
Delicious fish - lightly battered and super crisp. The chips were really good too - the best I had in Scotland. Cross the St and head to the beach to.enjoy your meal
Simply the best battered fish I've ever had. Crispy evenly coated batter, massive piece of succulent white fish. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you Carron!
Had the Vegan Fritter supper and it was immense, absolutely delicious. Even though it was really busy, the guys got all the orders out quickly and were super friendly too. Will definitely be back!
To be honest this isn't something I would normally consider eating but it felt wrong to leave Stonehaven without even having tried it. The batter was very crispy and yes it was a mars bar inside but alas to sweet for me. But definitely worth a visit.
The birth place of the deep fried Mars Bar. Sensational on the taste buds.
Take out ordered online worked well.
Battered fish was perfect not too greasy and very crispy. Chips nice and big good portion. The fish had perfect taste not too "fishy".
Carron's fish bar is just ace. Lots of choice and all freshly cooked and delicious. Make sure you are hungry as portions are generous. My only little negative is the £4 surcharge for ordering online. This is the only eatery I know that charges for this service. I hope it doesn't catch on🙄
Orders are cooked fresh so expect to wait a little while, this place is always busy and for good reason. The quality of haddock is second to none and the chips are proper chippy chips. Well worth the wait.
