We went here for a family meal at Christmas. The pub is easy to find on the main road and has lots of parking. You walk through the bar and the restaurant tables are off to one side. We had booked ahead and it was a good thing as its clearly a local favourite. The menu was really good, with lots of local produce and a variety of pub favourites as well as a few dishes that were different. The staff were friendly and polite and the food came out within a decent time. A firm favourite of our table were those who chose the braised ox cheeks. I also really liked the prawn cocktail starter. They served a good range of drinks and everyone was happy! We were all too full to stay for pudding, but after seeing some served at nearby tables they looked very nice. If you're nearby I really recommend going for a meal here, you won't be disappointed.

Really exceptional food. The fish pie was exemplary as was the soup. My partner and child's food was also a cut above. The pub is clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and efficient. Well worth going to if visiting Long Melford.

Lovely, quaint pub with an authentic old feel. Amazing food with which I cannot possibly rate any higher even though it deserves it and friendly service from waiting staff. If you are passing through, I would definitely recommend stopping here to eat.

Got to be up there as the best pub food we've ever had. Pork Belly was so well cooked and tasty and slow cooked lamb superb. Chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream to finish off capped it all. Staff very nice and quick service, all round winner

I had a fairly well done manhattan, then Malbec which was pretty good. Then had the Brie cheese starter and the awesome pork belly. Delicious. Only thing about the pork belly: the crackling had some sauce poured on it that made it soggy. Best left alone to crackle! Chips were a big hit too. Great staff.
