Gregg's here is busy all the time. Aren't they all! It has very friendly staff who can't do enough for you. It's Gregg's what else can I tell you? They do great coffee and bakes at good prices. This shop is clean and tidy. And the shelves kept stocked. Having said there is nothing wrong here this is canny. On a related matter I do feel the Gregg's plc changing. There does seem to be change in the air. I believe, this Geordie enterprise is or has reorientated itself towards the City of London global banking centre, and beyond. Pressure has been put on by the new CEO Roisin Currie, who is changing the nature of the business. Demanding growth. Boasting of 150 new Gregg's a year. I have lots of evidence now of broken machines taking weeks to get repaired. No response from maintenance. And it seems sharp practice rules the day now. The staff can feel the changes too. Anecdotal evidence suggests they are unsure about shifts and hours... There is more to say on this but my first duty is to say how good Gregg's still is and how proud the staff are to work in a North East Company.. My first Gregg's contribution with a tinge of negativity attached to it. Don't let my ramblings put you off finding this place and getting tucked in.
Always busy but service is outstanding. My server Karen was very knowledgeable about what deal would be best for me....she recommended I add an item to my order to bring the price down. A very pleasant experience indeed.
Great place for a cuppa & cake or sausage roll. Best millionaires shortbread anywhere.
