So I live 30 seconds walk from here and walk past is all the time. The first time I went was in the opening weekend maybe a year or two ago, and the food was aweful, the service was slow with barely anyone there, the music was "chart pop" music and loud, the tables had these god aweful plastic tablecloths and overall a bad experience, keeping in mind that literally opposite them is an Italian restaurant that has been there for 45 years with a well established community and great food that my family and I have been going to for decades.
I just came to Il Mulino today (August 2020) and, well, my 5 star rating is all you need. A very attentive manager, kept us filled with drinks, music was straight out of the God Father, and other classic Italian themed movies (love it, its cute and homely!) and the thank god the plastic tablecloths had gone!
Food came promptly and was clearly made fresh. Calamari was not greasy and was crispy, and the Crepe stuffed with beef and cheese was made delicately. The pizza dough was lovely and crisp on the outside with lots of toppings of a good quality, my sisters linguini was packed with prawns and squid and clearly the sauce had been made with fresh shellfish stock as the flavour was strong. My parents moussaka was beautiful and fragrant and that isn't to forget that portion sizes were really good (I'm 6ft4 100kg and it filled me to brim). The desserts were not to good, nothing to write home about, but honestly for the price this is an amazing little restaurant for a fun family meal.
I can't believe it has taken me this long to come back, but I will be going again with friends and family, the other restaurant Risorante Sorento will always have a place in my heart, but I think Il Mulino will be a regular place for me to go to from now on too :) (Also important to mention, both restaurants have very different Italian food, so they aren't really comparable dish vs dish.)

We unexpectedly entered the Indian restaurant on Sunday though we were ready for Italian food as Google says. We decided to have new experience and it was a good experience. We tried crab curry etc and they were very good 👍🏻 We’ll go back for Indian and Italian again😋

One of my favourite places in Kingston/Surbiton. Freshly made dishes that taste amazing. Great customer service. A shot or two of limoncello after the dinner is a must

Me and my partner were looking for somewhere for dinner that wasn’t too expensive. This was less than a five min walk from our hotel. Upon arriving, we were greeted by very welcoming and friendly staff. Both the food and service were incredible and if we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be stopping by!

Visited Sunday & all four of us had an excellent meal. Moussaka & lasagne were home made & delicious. The 5th member of our party was a 3 year old child. Nothing was too much & was given mac & cheese with chicken & sweetcorn added. Also child had ice cream all the meal free. The man who served us also prepared the meals & could not have been more friendly. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. It is not fast food so be prepared to wait a while for excellent tasty home made Food.

For most of my time here, I was the only diner. It was a weeknight and it was wonderful. The gentleman serving me was generous and totally unartificial, and the food was fresh and well portioned. He even kindly gifted me a lovely chocolate from his ‘private reserve’ 🤣 I love that there are still Italian restaurants like this and I hope lots more people discover it.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to have a nice meal out after being stuck in the house all day in a rainy Sunday. For some reason, we had never been to or even considered Il Mulino as an option. We decided to try it and we are really glad we did. The food was great with a varied selection of different choices. The staff were attentive and friendly and made the experience worthwhile. We regularly visit the local restaurants and Il Mulino is already rated near the top of our list. We will definitely be back

I live local to this restaurant, but had been apprehensive to visit as it seemed to be empty each time I walk past. Secondly, the premises has had several incarnations over the years with the previous owners changing hands every so often.
As a result, it has taken me up until now (oct 2020) to visit.It was my partners idea as he was in the mood for a pizza and as its such a short stroll from my address we decided to take a visit.
The food was delicious and served efficiently. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the Marinara linguine is delicious and there is plenty of seafood in the dish. My partner had the Marinara pizza and his verdict was that it was 'lovely. The price is amazing. I paid 4 x the price for similar dishes at The Ivy!
We will definitely return, please do visit this little gem 💎

I dined at Il Mulino a few times now, and every time my experience has been great! I’ve had the Beef Meatballs and most recently the Pasta Pesto, both were absolutely delicious and would definitely would recommend. The staff was super nice and accommodating. Definitely will be returning to the restaurant soon.

The food is is excellent and reasonably priced. Nice size restaurant and all the staff were lovely and attentive without being overbearing.
But the most amazing thing here are the profiteroles. Just absolutely perfect and by far the best I've had north of Milan.

Spent a lovely evening at Il Mulino celebrating a 21st Birthday. Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere and very good food.

Excellent value for money, cosy little restaurant. Wide range starters and main courses. Went with a group of dancing chums, after the meal the staff moved some tables to allow for dancing. Well recommended, will be going back.
