Applebee's Grill + Bar

Really liked the service and everyone was working wherever was needed. I love to see people work together as a team . I'm strictly a frozen margarita type of person but the 5.00 drinks must've been so good the strawberry puree was ran out. I did enjoy the Bahama Mama . The food was delicious and price was reasonable. But to see everyone working hard to make sure customers needs are met and putting aside ego. Was truly mind-blowing.

Looking for a local place to take someone from out of town to eat, called ahead to see how busy, and that we had 8 in our party. Not busy and yes for our party of 8. We arrived and waited, noting customers in only a handful of tables/booths. Thinking for sure we would go to one of the 2 big corner tables. We were told they can’t really seat a party of 8. We asked about corner table… they said they cannot seat 8 at those. Seeing 2 empty low tables for 4 each, RIGHT next to each other, we were told they cannot push tables together. First I have heard. Half our party was kids. Without any accommodations, we said we would go elsewhere. Today was a holiday so not many places open. But they had only a few customers. They lost a nice tip and we won’t be returning. Plenty of local FAMILY owned businesses to support.

The service was great, our server Cahjanee did a wonderful job. But, I ordered a steak medium well as I always do. The steak was dry and over cooked. She sent it back and ordered another one. This one came out almost rare. I asked that it be cooked a little more. The manager Mr. Regan took that one back and brought me a steak that was worse than the first. He was very unprofessional telling me that I asked it be cooked longer and then tried to tell me that a little pink is medium well when he obviously knew this over cooked steak was not medium anything. When I asked him if he thought it was right he couldn't even acknowledge it was messed up. I did not enjoy the meal.

Steak came out extremely tough. Was practically unable to eat. My wife's fries were cold and despite there being almost no one in the restaurant, they still couldn't seem to get anything right. Spoke to the manager and she kept trying to give me new food but I just wanted to leave. Regaurdless it still took forever to get anything. Kinda ashame, the food looked good on the menu.

They have gone downhill. I was there three days ago, on a Saturday, and the wait was over an hour, not because they were crowded, not because of reduced capacity guidelines for covid, but because they were only using 5 tables. All 5 in close proximity of each other. Then the food comes. The mozzarella sticks were delicious- hot, fresh and pretty perfect, but clearly a fluke based on the entrees we got. My sons' chicken tenders were hard and dried out and my salmon was dry, but after the long wait, I opted out of sending anything back. We just ate what we could and got out of there. And with only 5 tables, server wasn't coming to check on us often. Refills were needed but by the time she was back we were ready to go. Get it together, Applebee's Swansea, IL!!
