The Messenger

We always walk past The Messenger pub with the dog and view the menu boards they have displayed, saying we should try this out! Well, today we were doing free and came down for a late afternoon dinner. This is a massive venue! Lots of areas to sit and tables, stools and even a large outdoor area. And, they have a fantastic display of huge TV's, probably 4, that you can they from wherever you sit. So if your a sports fan? It's a great place to eat and drink and watch something. We had a very friendly greeting by the landlady at the bar. where we chose our meals from the 2 for £11.50 range. Gammon, eggs, chips tomato and peas, then for my partner, she had Hand battered Cod, chips and choice of peas and a side order of curry sauce. We helped ourselves to accompaniments from the side of the bar and headed back to our table. We chose a lovely Thatchers Dark Berry cider, which is a lovely pint! Plus a large cup of tea. Well in no time at all after sitting down and chatting, our meals arrived! My eyes little up as the plate sizes were huge! Lots of food on each plate, which surprised me, for what it cost. The plates were piping hot, a good sign! The food was fantastic, very tasty. Best Gammon I have tasted for a very long time! My eggs were very hot and runny👍 chips were crispy and nice and hot too! My partner Hand battered Cod was simply delicious! Its like the batter just melted in your mouth😋 We was very impressed with the quality of their food, value for money was brilliant! We travel a lot, eat in different places and countries! Some places are disappointing, as you expect nicely prepared food, temperature hot, and tasty. I would recommend The Messenger to have food in, we will ad leaving the dog at home more often and trying more from their menu. Well done to The Messenger cooks and staff👏👏😋😀 thank you.

Had a lovely meal at the messenger for our sons birthday on 19 th April in the evening, the lady that looked after us which I believe was called Dina was absolutely brilliant she looked after us 8 so well she found us a suitable table and took our order and had a warm friendly manner she worked so hard thank you so much !! Booked a table for mother's day, the staff were lovely and friendly and the food was fantastic. Mother and my husband had carvery and it looked amazing, they thoroughly enjoyed it. Another table offered mum mint sauce as there was none available but that wasn't an issue at all. I had steak ale pie and my son had the fish and chips. My meal was lovely. The staff checked to make sure the food was okay and would recommend it to anyone :) 😀

Only come in for one pint and ended up there till closing time. Lovely little pub.. Dogs are also welcome in the beer garden. Also drinking water and boul. Been back 3 times for lunch meal food on each time has been bang on. Lovely friendly and helpful staff.. Tho I don't recommend the jacket potatoes. Microwaved not oven cooked
