Great meal after a long dog walk around Cliveden House. The food is always very good and reasonably priced and dogs are welcome
A nice casual restaurant that complements the main dining room of the hotel. They serve relaxed dishes like a burger. The food is good but not as you would expect from the main dining room. It's located in a nicely decorated stables. They also have seating outside. Overall, 4 stars is appropriate and with some extra touches to the meals, it can be an excellent place to eat.
Our first visit (Sept 28th)… apologies for the tardiness of my review! What to say other than ‘wow!’ and “thank you”… when you learned it was our anniversary all of the staff were kind enough to write and present us with a beautiful card with such kind words… this topped off what was a really lovely evening with super food and excellent (red) wine and champagne! The setting is lovely and actually quite romantic (considering it’s actually converted from an old stables… not somewhere that one might immediately call ‘romantic’… but it was). We were celebrating 36 years of ‘togetherness’ and even now I simply cannot think of somewhere we would rather have been that evening/night. Cliveden is simply marvellous - a beautiful setting where ladies & gentlemen (or two gentlemen in our case) were treated like we were two gentlemen. First class food, served at a suitable pace, and accompanied by great wine choices and really pleasant conversations with the team members as well. We’ve had a hectic couple of months but we definitely will be back soon (early in the new year)… and just writing that energises me to get a table booked soon! Thank you again for the wonderful evening! Warmest wishes, A&S
Food was delicious. The staff were attentive and really helpful, even the guy who was clearly off duty but happily took us to the restaurant we were looking for. They made my birthday extra special, see photo. And now the waiter knows that treacle tart is "the Harry Potter special" 😉
Food was amazing and ambience was lovely. Service very friendly but a bit slow and had to look around of r extra drinks!
This is lovely if a trifle on the pricey side. Also, the bench seats can be a bit tricky to slide onto, along and off.
The horses that used to live here when the Grill was the stables must have been very spoiled.
Generous rating because the food was good. Friendly service but patchy with long waits. Some elements a little basic and the overall quite expensive. Nonetheless, if you have plenty of time a decent place to relax, enjoy gentle music and fabulous walks around it’s recommended.
What an lovely enjoyable day out for lunch . Staff were 5 star , really nice polite friendly and helpful and still smiled even though it was 31 degrees. Izzy was so nice and gave us great service , thank you. Your tacos shouldn't be on your main menu though , very tasty but small with nothing else. The chef and the staff made today. Will definitely be back
Excellent meal at the Astor Grill. We had Starters Salmon carpaccio and Thai salad and they were both delicious. Mains were fantastic too: lamb grill, cod roast and the burger. The chips were amazing. Service is the best! Attentive, polite and professional. Felt safe due to continuous cleaning and all measures put in place. Lovely meal to start getting back to normal life. Thank you.
We have been here for lunch as the meal was partially included in the Spa Day. We had arancini, a sharing platter, sole and hake. As a dessert the sticky date pudding. Very professional staff, delicious food and a pleasant experience. By reading other reviews, it is true that the waiting time has room for improvements. However, we were not in a rush, so we did not mind too much.
