What a fabulous place! I came here with my husband & Father-in-law for Sunday lunch last weekend. The interior is classic country pub style – not gussied up, just beautiful brickwork, stripped wooden beams, traditional open fire and some quirky artwork to give everything a current edge. My 2 gents were really looking forward to their roast beef. I don't eat meat, the vegetarian pasta option didn't sound hugely exciting (my mistake!), but I ordered it anyway. Hmmm, quite possibly the most delicious pasta I have ever had! Absolutely mouthwatering sauce, beautiful colours and perfectly al dente. The roasts came with the most perfect looking Yorkshire puddings and a generous array of veggies, we were all very happy . The busy restaurant ran out of horseradish sauce during the meal, but unlike most places which would just offered an apologetic shrug.... the chef went outside, dug up some horseradish root from the garden and made fresh horseradish sauce on the spot! That, good people, is dedication to your craft! On top of attractive surroundings and perfect food - i'd also like to give a big shout out to both the girls who were serving us... they just had such a lovely energy, warm and friendly, super helpful, ultimately making the service as exceptional as the food. Needless to say… We will be back!

What a fantastic lunch, the restaurant was busy but not crowded and the staff struck the right balance of attentive but discreetly absent - there when you want but not hovering. The chateaubriand was splendid and plenty of vegetables all perfectly prepared and presented. A total treat will absolutely be back with a larger group. It’s fantastic to see a re opened pub flourish because of the care and attention they take .

Six of us had a fantastic meal here. They were very accommodating squeezing us in for a last minute booking. The food was incredible, fresh, tasty and perfect portion sizes. The staff were all very polite and super keen to help. Price is on the higher side however we felt it was totally worth it for the evening we enjoyed with the food and ambience. We have booked to come back tomorrow for a roast!

It was our first visit with the new owners and chef. We came on a recommendation. The food was scrumptious and the menu was lovely. A bit expensive, but the food was good quality and well presented. We declined starters and had a longish wait for our main, then again for our desserts. But the food was worth the wait. Service was only okay - to the point that I declined the service charge and just tipped the lady, who was fine. We must have caught the other server on a bad day.

On route from Devon to Sussex, terrible traffic meant we stopped by The Canal Inn pub, I'm so glad we did, a great venue! Lovely staff, great atmosphere and beautiful fresh pizzas cooked outside. Had a great time here, if we were local I'd be a regular. Many thanks!

Great place this! Attentive, friendly staff. Ate here a few times in the winter, and the food was always spot on. Today we got to sit in the sunny terrace at the back, a lovely setting. We both had the lobster, and it was beautifully prepared (didn't need to wrestle with it!) and perfectly cooked, and those parmasan chips, so good! Can't wait to visit again.
