Simply Thai

I'm not a great fan of Thai food as I've eaten at so many and haven't been able to find that "taste sensation" that I've been looking for. I was invited here by a friend that had fond memories of the food but found the owner somewhat "rude". The food was great, light and delicate flavours with subtle spices; I really enjoyed it. We were served a small complementary bowl of mushroom soup; after eating it I wished that I could have cancelled my order and replaced it with a bucket of that soup: It was delicious, I've never tasted anything like it. The owner made an appearance but I guess that time has mellowed her manner; she was delightful and polite. I will defiantly visit this restaurant again.

I took 3 children aged 12 to this restaurant for lunch on New Years Eve. The restaurant and kitchen looked clean and inviting. The restaurant was quiet, probably due to the time of year and they had only recently opened. We were the only people in the restaurant The staff were really sweet and accomodating despite the fact that they were only 30 minutes from closing. We ordered calamari/bread and olives to share for the starter. I was expecting the slightly rubbery frozen calamari that is the fare of many small restaurants in the UK but was blown away by how fresh and delicious it was. I didn't get much as the children ate most of it and I wish I had ordered more. Unsuprisingly, all children ordered pizza for the main. The chef came to the table and asked if they would like to make their own pizza (not offered as an option usually but the place was quiet). The children went into the open kitchen and prepared the dough and fillings - they loved the experience and the pizza was delicious. I ordered ragu pasta, which arrived in a smallish bowl. The pasta was al dente, the ragu sauce was slow cooked strips of beef rather than mince. The sauce was rich and prepared with care - lush. I could only eat half the bowl as it was so filling. The wine list is good with reasonably priced glass options. We did not have desert as everyone was too full after the meal. This restaurant offers a little piece of Italy in Teddington. I don't expect that it will be quiet for much longer. I am sure in the near future it would be wise to book to avoid disappointment. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I have been a customer of Simply Thai since the restaurant opened. If you want a delicious unhurried Thai meal then look no further. I love the spicy beef salad to start and a green curry with pad Thai noodles and brown rice but every dish I've eaten there has been wonderful. To be fair, service is not always speedy so sit back, have a glass of wine and enjoy!
