Cobbs At Englefield

I visited Cobbs in Englefield for lunch with a friend - he's a regular but this was my first visit. The restaurant area is large, bright and airy and the food excellent. You would expect a farm shop restaurant to have high quality produce and at Cobbs you won't be disappointed. I chose Ham, Eggs and Chips - simple but really tasty. Really fresh eggs with lovely golden yolks and excellent ham all partnered with nice chips with a real crunch to them. All washed down with a bottle of Ramsbury Farmers Best beer. I'm looking forward to my next visit. I'm told the menu changes seasonally which is great. Although I didn't try on this occasion, I'm sure all the ingredients can be found for sale in the shop.

We love eating at Cobbs Englefield because you can always guarantee the high quality of the food as well as the care and friendliness of the staff, whether you just want coffee or a meal. Today the restaurant was full, and the wait for food was a little long, but the lovely food, the relaxed atmosphere and lovely staff made it all worthwhile.

We purchased 4 cooked breakfasts at Cobbs and we were really looking forward to enjoying freshly cooked hot food. However the experience was let down by the seating location we were given. We were sat directly opposite the doors leading to the outside seating area which were continuously being opened and shut by both visitors and staff. As a consequence we were being constantly fanned by the outside air which had an instant cooling effect on our breakfast. So much so that before we were even half way through eating it the breakfast was only luke warm!! They were nowhere as enjoyable as they should have been!! (Considering this was in June, I imagine it would be much worse during other months.) I must stress that the staff were all lovely, and the food was of an excellent quality. It was just the fact that it got so cold so quickly that this visit to Cobbs was a disappointment to us 😞
