Nice friendly pub 👍 what a lovely surprise when our motorhomes group (The Great Escapers)did a raffle for the air ambulance between us and raised £60 The pub matched it so £120 was sent to them. Fantastic gesture 👏 👍 👌
Best Sunday lunch we have ever had and the pub itself is lovely inside and has a great beer garden. All the staff are really polite and helpful. Can't wait to go back again.
The best thing about British Pubs located in our beautiful National Parks, is they never let your expectations down - and The Buck in Thornton Le Dale, keeps you in the right direction. After an extremely busy solo day, I just fancied a decent pint and a burger & the home made Buck Burger hit the spot. Undecided with choice of chips / fries the Chef (clearly a people pleaser) delivered both. Homely, friendly atmosphere - great service from the bar staff. 10/10
First time to this pub . 6 . 30 in 26/8/23 got told when when entering if you don’t have a table booked, go through to the bar, you might get a table there so unprofessional there was Poeple standing having a drink but make us feel uncomfortable. We had a drink in the bar as we give them a chance but would never come in here again . Not caring to customers
Stopped off for lunch after a wander around the scenic countryside, and we were glad we did. The service was good, the drinks were appreciated but the food was absolutely incredible.
Me and my girlfriend just got starters, skin on chips and cheesy garlic bread, but they were delicious and very filling. Our friends on the other hand chose the roast dinner and a black n' blue burger, and they were both completely blown away!
My friend Anne said the gravy on her roast dinner was the best she had ever had, a sentiment shared by another diner nearby, and the chef came out to talk to us about his secret recipe and seemed genuinely happy at the compliments.
The burger that arrived was gigantic, and from the noises my other friend made while eating, it was just as tasty.
The Buck is a centrally located pub in a picturesque little village, and well worth a visit - especially for Sunday dinner!
The buck is a very friendly pub with a nice atmosphere the food is good and reasonably priced parking outside if you are lucky or at Thornton Dale car park which is not far away it is also dog friendly so long as they are under control no hesitation to go again if we passed that way
This place is great, lovely food in very generous portions! The staff are so attentive and helpful, they even found us a lift back to our campsite!
Overall, it was a very good, slight issue with bread roll on starter, still frozen in middle. Staff couldn't apologise enough. Otherwise, food is good
We went for Sunday Lunch and it was absolutely excellent. I normally eat very small portions, but I could not let a mouthful go to waste. Excellent!
Rooms looked nice but never stayed.
Nice pub and great friendly staff.
Check if you want to eat as they don't always serve food.
