Father's Day. The pub was really busy but the staff remained friendly and welcoming. A good standard Sunday roast with vegetables better than in many similar establishments. Generous portions at a fair price. The little gardens were useful for the toddler in the group. This will be our 'local' from now on.

The Victoria in Tilehurst is a proper English pub. Great venue, attention to detail decor, nice gardens (they have banana palms, quality). TV screens showing the football. Lively diverse crowd of locals - it gets noisey. Music from the juke box. Decent number of tables to sit at and drink or eat. The menu is okay and offers standard pub fair (fish and chips for me every time). The landlords are cool and do not tolerate stupidity. Staff are friendly and service is good. Security on the door as is standard these days. There is a pool table but take your own screw tips (for some reason people seem to steal them? … ???). This has the character of the old pubs I grew up in … I didn’t think they existed anymore… Great pub. Recommended. 5 stars easily.
