The Major's Retreat - Tormarton - Photo album

Very friendly. Food simple but good. Definitely could not be described as expensive! Good range of beers, samples provided for the uninitiated. Probably could do with an injection of capital, but something of a triumph to have survived at all over the last 15 months so that's an observation not a c
☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️ Update - doing a nice gentle walk on New Year's Day through the Dodington Estate to the Majors Retreat we have heard the tragic news that the pub is being sold and that we were drinking some of the last pints. All the best to the lovely staff and here is hoping that the building is sold
Very tasty food. Atmosphere very welcoming. I've rung at the last minute and they have always accommodated us. Sunday roast very tasty. Always come away feeling satisfied. It's nice going here as it's more like seeing friends than the impersonal chain pubs that have absolutely no character. A g
A friendly place with a friendly landlord and reasonably priced food. We were a small group of former work colleagues meeting for drinks and food after work. The place is cosy, service fast. Good choice of local and less local beer and cider. Huge portion of food, go there with an empty stomach 😃 Mu
Stopped here while walking the Cotswolds Way. We looked like a pair of drowned rats but we're welcomed. I quess they have a lot of walkers stop there. A charming old pub full of character. We didn't have any food but I was surprised with the choices on offer. Definitely a good stopping off point wh
Four of us had lovely meals after being greeted by the very friendly Landlord, this pub isn't one of your modern pubs it's old and comfy with character and also it looks as if it may have a huge fire in the winter. I had Cajun chicken which was good but 2 of us had steak and Stilton pie which I thin
We stopped here for a late supper as we had been touring the area all day and staying at the nearby Best Western. The food was great (and reasonably priced) but what really made this place stand out was the atmosphere. It was exactly what I had pictured of an English Pub (my family and I were visiti
Super pub on the edge of the Cotswolds, excellent staff and hospitality, Sunday lunch was a great treasure. Will definitely be back there again very soon to sample such amazing fayre... Thank you to Roy amd the team, a treasure of a place.
We use the Major’s Retreat regularly, why ? because the food is great and the Landlord, Roy, is the friendliest nutter you will ever meet. If you enjoy a pint of real ale most are local and well kept. The Pig’s Ear is recommended, but dont have too many and definitely don’t drive afterwards. The sta
I would like to say a big "thank you!" to the Landlord and Landlady and their staff for making us feel so welcome last Saturday lunch time. Our birthday celebration was made special by the extra attention to detail. The food was lovely and the beer went down a treat. Recommended.
What a fabulous olde worlde pub. Found this little gem on Friday when dining out with a friend. Food was amazing ....portion sizes were very generous and really good value for money. The staff and owner where very attentive making us feel valued customers. Recommend to all.... oh and the curry was
The food is very good. Delicious home made pie with lots of vegetables. The owner is friendly and courteous. If it was busy hopefully there would be more staff behind the bar. But the service from the kitchen was very good
Nice lunch with a friendly fast service! No modernised style coffee but a kind offer for separate hot milk to go with a cafetiere coffee to make a latte. Nice relaxing atmosphere. The food was very good.
amazing little inn ❤️❤️ we had a delicious pub dinner that didn’t break the bank, complete with darts and good chats with the staff. will definitely return - the steak pie was to die for !
Traditional country pub with good range of simple good value meals like pastry topped pie of the day, Cajun chicken and vegetable tagatellie. Unusually the Uley Pigs Ear, Steam and Ghost beer was from beer boxes.
'Roys place' and what a gentleman who serves great beers. Stopped in for some food which was very reasonably priced and of high quality. This is a proper pub and well worth a stop, two happy campers!
Even though we were on our own at first ,it was great all we wanted was a sandwich or bowl of soup ,beautiful bread and sausage & crispy bacon would definitely go back. It is on route from London to Swansea for us . It is run by a retired business man from London not I would think making much of a l
Friendly welcome from a landlord and landlady who seemed slightly unaccustomed to the 9 peeps that arrived for a bite and a pint after a 2 hour walk along Cotswolds Way. Missed out on the food as we arrived just as the kitchen had called time, but had a lovely of Pigs Ear!! Definitely visit the next
Traditional pub with Roy a landlord with personality plus. Makes you very welcome and very helpful to walkers who call in. Good food with large portion sizes particularly the Sunday roasts. Free car parking.
