A very highly rated place and for good reason judging by our visit. We were fortunate to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary here. If it hadn't had fell on a midweek day then I feel we wouldn't have got in.
It's an unpretentious dining room and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
The menu is a bit limited and any fussy eater like me may want to phone ahead to check what's on offer.
We had fillet steaks and they were excellent, together with a nice selection of vegetables. Note these are included in the price and they can do a bit of "mix and match" across the menu. The desserts were simply sublime.
Despite its popularity and reputation we thought the prices are very competitive even compared to lesser establishments.
It's a small bar but we were happy.
The service from our friendly and attentive waitress was exemplary.

Seriously, the food here is amazing. Probably one of the best meals I've had at a restaurant for a while - if you're lucky enough to be close enough book a table. The apricot dumpling was also the biggest surprise of the night. Thank you Chef!

Me and my husband Went here for our 1st wedding anniversary tonight, glad we did the food was outstanding and very tasty the chef did amazing job…. both the chef and waitress worked very hard and kept checking if everything was ok with our meals the place is lovely clean and friendly there too I will definitely be going back there 100% I highly recommended it to anyone looking for good food 😍 even the chef makes the effort to come out and see everyone

Lovely place, amazing staff, amazing food. Perhaps a little pricey but it’s worth it.
My only complaint is the bread they serve as appetisers - It’s delicious and there isn’t enough of it!

This is the kind of establishment where they do one sitting per table per night. 22 covers, so 22 meals served per night.
Many dishes are Austrian, then Austrian chef is also the owner and wonderfully charismatic. The food is not shy in flavours. Even the snapse at the end is home made.
We'll be returning.

A brilliant restaurant with fantastic menu. We had the Scallops, Lobster Ravioli for starters, Duck breast, Beef Fillet for mains, apricot dumpling and pancake filled cherries for desserts. The staff were very friendly and the owner made time to talk to every table. A great fine dining experience.

A wonderfully authentic Austrian meal at Old Vienna! This was our first time visiting Torquay and were recommended this restaurant by our B&B. I have family from Austria so it was nice to get some Austrian food in the UK. The chef regularly came out to make sure everyone was happy with their meal, as well as bringing round a glass of schnapps. It was a comfortable and friendly environment.

Our New Years Eve 2016 was an amazing experience the cuisine could only be described as absolutely top notch surpassing all our expectations from start to finish ! This restaurant originally opened in 1989 only 3 years after I was born, my parents actually had one of the most important business meals of their careers one evening here many years ago. Austrian rooted “Werner”, the owner then closed the doors of Old Vienna in 1991, but since then reopened at the same premises in 2011. Due to his Austrian roots, this reflects in a major way on his menu with sauerkraut, schnitzel’s and many other Austrian delicacies having an influence. When we entered the restaurant, “Werner” the chef was waiting at the bar to greet us, it seemed that on this Wednesday evening he would not only be our waiter but chef as well. This originally scared be abit thinking we would be ignored, but I can gladly say by the end of the meal I was pleasantly surprised how well this worked, ill explain more about that below. Bread was quickly served which was lovely and warm, this bread which is home made was lovely. The flavours were so mixed with a hit of paprika, garlic
