Recently opened and part of the amazing and top rated Ollie's of Torquay. We went on their first day on the 23 May. Lydia from Ollie's leading from the front as ever. Nicely refurbished. A delicious and unpretentious short menu. Short is key to quality. Vibrant and atmospheric. Doggy friendly. Gorgeous crew. Only let down, the ugly plastic plant on our table. We shall return. We had an outstanding dinner at Portofino last night. We loved the atmosphere and the decor and thought the enfold and wine was excellent. Our starters, mains, sides and drinks came in well below £100 which was amazing considering the standards. Special mention for the pasta (great price and portion) and the Pinot bianco wine.

+ve The food was excellent!! Good quality produce, well cooked and presented. Very reasonable priced, and this far outweighed the negatives - see below. All in all...yes, we'll be going back to Portofino ..! -ve Booked breakfast for 9.30 but in reality they don't serve until 10... so we spent the first half an hour drinking our coffee and juice then had to pay again for a coffee with our meal! (Maybe a free top-up would have been a nice gesture?) Interior is dark and dingy akin to their evening offering we assume. Something a little brighter would be more conducive to daylight hours i.e. breakfast, morning coffee and lunchtimes. Take a leaf out of 'the Ivy' perhaps? (Sorry about the pun!)
