Torquay Fish And Chips

I have never left a bad review, but this was appalling. Used to be owned by a lovely man who was passionate about fresh seafood. My dad and I both had to spit out the fish, wafer thin, on pancake like batter which was rubbery, chips were disgusting and extremely soggy. Potato cake was from a packet and not fully cooked. If I could give I would, inedible. My usual place is Bell Street (they are amazing, fresh seafood and great service). I went to Gilbert try my luck, and I’ll never return. Waste of a business this close to the ocean. Not many or any locals go here anymore. Avoid.

$10 worth of chips. Hand for size reference This is supposed to feed 5 people……? Very confused by the sizing here Have called and been told he used “2 handfuls” to measure the $10 worth. That’s right he actually used his hands rather then scoops, and wasn’t covid safe. Don’t waste your money on fish and chips in Torquay

Bought two 'Big burgers', $15.90, for lunch on Sun, 10 April, 2022. Verdict: Fail. The buns we're too soft and stale, the double beef patties had too much bread filler and not enough meat content. There was too much oil in each, also. Disappointed. Should have known from the poor attitude of the staff to waiting customers to know anything good will come out of this kitchen! Maybe others weren't as unlucky, but I won't come back. Too many other good places to go to.

Silly me decided to support local and choose a random fish and chip shop, as I waited for my food I gave it a google, I couldn't believe the owners responses to the reviews it leaves a very bad taste on a customer and in this day and age if you read bad reviews your not going to that store, customer service was awesome the food was pretty below average for $20. Instead of bagging the reviews the owner needs to take feedback and maybe take a few hints
