Fabulous. Never disappointed - service is first class - small and friendly they make you feel special. The Beef carpaccio is to die for - although a bit pricey for a started at £10 it is well worth the money. The menu is extensive with a range of meat and fish but also have a specials board to tempt you..if you haven't been it is well worth trying
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I cant remember the last time I had such a fabulous experience for both food and the service. I like cooking myself therefore often feel a bit disappointed when eating out, however, this place was anything but disappointing. The meal for two offer is superb, choice was good, food was excellent and the service too wonderful. You were made very much at home so much so I even spoke with the Chef. Excellent

Great food, Great service, Great experience!. Agree with all the other posts as I frequently enjoy a very pleasant and relaxed meal at Il Buongustaio.
I can't compliment this establishment enough as the positives are endless.
For quality of food, Il Buongustaio is second to none in Uddingston and in my opinion would rival any of the top Italian restaurants in Glasgow's city centre. Each dish is cooked with a high level of skill and quality and the presentation reflects the fantastic taste of each dish. With the menu offering a wide range of dishes there is something for everyone and always something different to try on your next visit. The quality of ingredients used is obvious with every bite you take and this is a consistent pattern as each dish never fails to disappoint.
For service I would echo the other compliments paid to Paulo. As an excellent front of house he reflects the high quality produced from the kitchen as both function in tandem. He keeps the other waiting staff in check and organises them in order to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. He also knows the wine list inside out and can always recommend a wine to suit your choice of food.
I would also like to add that this restaurant has a few impressive touches. The night is started as it ends with complimentary pate before your starter, and homemade tablet and meringue as you finish off the night. Both tasting magnificent! The chef also takes his time at the end of the night to walk around the restaurant asking customers how they enjoyed their meal and their overall dining experience. This shows the appreciation of customer opinion as the owner/chef is always interested in your comments, whether good or bad.
To sum up I would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a great tasting meal which wants the service to compliment it.

Simply - The Best. I am a regular diner at Il Buongustaio and I can't say enough good things about the place.
As a keen cook (not that good tho') I know good food when I see and eat it and every visit has been excellent.
The menu is varied, the staff are great and the food is truly authentic and always served up well.
Pay attention to the specials board as there are some great finds on there.
Staff and Food
Paolo as the front of staff makes everyone feel special. He is very attentive and helps you make good decisions about your food if you are unsure. He knows the wine list inside out and makes sure your wine always compliments what you are having to eat.
Chef and owner Stefano Bericchia has been cooking for a long time and always makes sure he puts his passion and skill into every dish he serves up.
I would encourage anyone to try this delightful restaurant but make sure you book early as seats are at a premium especially at the weekends.
All in all my favourite restaurant and I would give it 5 out of 5.

Service with a smile!. I couldn't agree with Italy fan more or the previous reviewer less. I have had the pleasure of dining in this fine little atmospheric establishment on several occasions now and the experience has been exceptional each and every time.
The sublime Italian cuisine on offer is truly mouth-watering and the quality of the food is overshadowed only by the exceptional levels of service. Paolo ensures that the exquisite food is served up in a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. He is thoroughly pleasant at all times and he professionally remains at your beck and call whilst respecting your privacy.
Turning back to the food, if you are a fan of a cut of prime beef then I would highly recommend sampling one of the steaks, which will unfailingly arrive cooked to absolute melt in the mouth perfection. However, I would advise holding off your decision until you have checked out the impressive daily specials board.
I could truly wax lyrical about this restaurant all day long but the only way to validate my enthusiastic tribute and pour scorn on the first farcical review is to go along and try it for yourself. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Visited midweek, and despite the restaurant being fairly busy, and only one server being on, we were looked after very well! The food is very tasty! We were recommended to try the deep-fried courgettes and onion spiral. We weren't disappointed! Great selection of food and wine. Chef came out at the end of the evening, which is always a nice touch. We were offered shots of limoncello. Professional and cheerful service from our waiter, Brian. Thanks so much for a lovely evening!

Superb, if you haven't tried you really need to go, best fillet of beef in peppercorn sauce I've tasted so far, my hubby said beef stroganoff was amazing also, will defo be returning very soon. Nice relax atmosphere.

This isn’t a modern pasta & pizza Italian. It’s an old school Scottish Italian that used to be everywhere. Sadly few of them remain but Stefanos is a delightful trip back in time with fabulous food, amazing staff, a lovely atmosphere and an almost family feeling. It made me nostalgic for places like L’Ariosta and others, all long since gone.

Fantastic evening. Table of 7 all with different meals and every meal was really good. Service was amazing and there was a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Highly recommended.
