The Optimist Tavern

Popped into The Optimist recently for dinner, was served quickly at the bar by a very friendly member of staff, had a wonderful dinner which was great value for money and tasted great! We ordered from the set menu, and the portion sizes were really impressive. Lots of choice also! The pub was clean, staff were welcoming and friendly and food was very good. Will definitely be back very soon!! 👍👍

A really good refurb’ ! Staff are super lovely, food good & yes it takes time but don’t rush a good thing. I’ve also booked Wednesday curry night after todays Sunday lunch which was more than ample & tasty… I’m a good cook so that take a lot to write! Well done Charlotte & Elisha… fab bar service… smiles as well, priceless Sarah - aka hubby in Ukraine doing humanitarian work, customs. 😬🙏🏼

Great afternoon had at the optimist tavern for a family birthday. We booked a large table which was ready when we arrived. Food was perfect and bar staff couldn’t do enough. The recent refurb looks great! Huge thank you to Josh behind the bar for making us so welcome and allowing the afternoon to run so smoothly. Can’t wait to visit again!

Good old Optimist, I've been coming here for years on and off. A group of us had some afternoon bites and a few drinks in the beer garden. Order via the app worked well, and the service was prompt. Food was a good standard, although we only ordered sharing nachos and a soup! The interior is really starting to look a little dated. The place could do with a bit of painting and decorating. The gents toilets were in need of some TLC too, the cubicle door didn't lock or stay closed, a urinal was out of order, and only one hand-dryer worked. The staff were polite and friendly enough, and the atmosphere was pleasant, but let's make the good old Optimist great again!

A friend recommened me to come here. First time being here. Nice place. Plenty of free customer parking. Went there at 12 for lunch. You can queue at the bar to order or I used the app to order and pay for food and drinks to the table and everything was great. Only 2 hour timeslot for a table given. Great staff, very helpful! Food came quick, been really craving a Sunday roast out for so long! I had the Turkey roast, with a Cappuccino and Salted Caramel millionaire gold bar for dessert. The roast was cooked so well! Carrots are soft instead of rock hard like other places and sufficient amount of gravy. I'll be coming back again another time.
