A absolute gem a must for foodies nice staff I cannot recommend enough I had beef carpaccio to start which was very tasty and the chicken and chorizo linguini for main and the Parmesan zucchini fritters are to die for. Twice now we have turned up without a resaervation and both times been accommodated by the extreamly welcoming staff but in future we will book to avoid disappointment

Thoroughly enjoyed our 1st visit yesterday for Sunday lunch. A very decent pint of hand pulled beer to kick off, pretty obvious that these guys know how to look after their beer! Every course of food was lovely, well presented and well cooked. The chicken liver pâté was really delicious for starter and my better half enjoyed her prawn and salmon cocktail. The mains we chose were beef and lamb, a well cooked, good sized portion accompanied by a spot on Yorkshire pudding, mash and roasties and the side of veg which was lovely and hot and not over cooked as is often the case. The deserts we chose were the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate brownie ice cream sundae, both were very indulgent and extremely good! Excellent wine list too I must add! We will be back very soon, many thanks!

A lovely little pub. They’ve just opened an Indian restaurant called Star Balti and the food was fantastic. The owner came out to chat with us to make sure we were happy and the staff were all lovely. Would highly recommend.

Great atmosphere and service, lovely food, and a really good play area. We have eaten here quite a few times now, and the food is always really good and big portions. You get loads for what you pay. Everyone who works there is very friendly and welcoming. The play area and outdoor seating are also really good. This particular time, they had a bouncy castle, which was free, so that was a great extra. The rest of the time they have a big climbing frame, swings, slides, 2 sit on tractors, lots of ride on toys and plenty of seating.

We have recently been to The Star and had a couple of meals. I really enjoyed the pie's They are really tasty and filling with a great portion. The staff are friendly and helpful Great atmosphere in the Inn Also I've taken my staff for a drink and it's nice to find somewhere you can just relax. Plenty of seating inside and out with a play area for the little ones. Easily located just out of Wakefield on the Batley rd Good sized car park Definitely worth a try It is a good place to walk to as there are plenty of countryside walks locally

Please do not be fooled by any negative reviews- I was sceptical at first because of them too. However, I had to bare in mind we only tend to write reviews when feeling disgruntled- I was proved wrong by The Star Inn! So here I am with a good review! Really lovely pub, friendly staff- really helpful and attentive, very clean and well kept inside, great value for money, home cooked food. We ordered two meals and a side and sat in the beer garden- could not fault the food at all! Piping hot, tasted amazing, lots of verity/options. You could tell it was freshly made to order. The staff we spoke to- a really kind man and lovely waitress- Rosie perhaps? made us feel very welcome and checked on us a few times incase there was anything else we needed. After our visit yesterday we will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Strangely quiet for the Christmas period. Seven of us visited for lunch and I have to say, the pie was very nice indeed. The one guy that was working the bar and tables was pleasant and service was swift. Would have got five stars, but it is quite expensive. I would definitely eat here again though.

Great outdoor space for functions, I attended a baby shower there which was lovely. My only criticism is £5 very expensive for a bottled cider!!
