The Grumpy Fryer

I was in the area for business and was passing by when my business partner and I spotted this place and decided to stop her for a wuick bite. Ordered a small chips, battered sausage, fish butty and a scallop. All for under £10. Service was great and food was phenomonal, very fresh and the batter on the fish was 10/10. Definitely will be coming back again when I'm in the area.

First time called here and it was absolutely lovely. I ordered a large fish with regular chips with a small tub of curry sauce. The staff that served me were so polite and friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The large fish tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection and the batter was just right, not too thick. The chips were delicious also, no crispy or hard bits. And the curry sauce I approve of too. Well worth the price for the quality. Would Recommend!

How do I give 10 Stars???? Ordered 2x Medium fish and chips Small curry and small peas. This would feed a family of 4. They have to be the best F&Cs ive had. Cooked to perfection. Very well priced and to top it all, the staff were brilliant. my new go too for F&Cs. All the 5 star reviews say it all. Well done The Grumpy Fryer,

Where do I start? Called in here whilst driving past from a job. Ordered large fish and small chips. So I'm a bit of a connoisseur on fish, I can tell cod from haddock, how long its been cooked, overcooked or undercooked. I'm hard to please. So here's my review. Wow, wow, wow. I just ate the best fish ever. Best size for the price best thickness, just the right amount of cooking, just awsome overall. Chips were lovely but the best I've had so far were in bridlington but the grumpy chips were close. However until I went to the grumpy, the brid shop had the best fish too but the grumpy stole it on value for money. The large fish was succulent and meaty. Can't wait till my next job is in this area. Next time I call here I will ask for lightly battered because if I had to offer any negative it would be that there was slightly too much batter for my taste but that is miniscule and that's just down to my personal preference. This shop is outstanding and the friendly service was A+. If your in the area and love fish and chips you have to try this place. It's like fish and chips from the 70s and 80s when chippy knew how to do great fish and chips.
