This is not a 5 star hotel but i give it a 5 star review. It is great value and the staff are incredibly helpful. What they do they do very well. The Friday evening two person fish and chips for £15 total is amazing value. Rooms are relatively basic but very clean with comfortable beds. Highly recommend as a good value overnight stay.

Food smashing, staff friendly, service fast.
We two pints of soft drink my wife was driving and I'm disabled therfore the soft drink , two pints £9.40 what's about even if it was bottled lemonade .... expensed ! Doesn't promote the casual driver lead experience we were looking by going off the beaten track.

Nice place with good rooms . Mostly contractors appear to stay but the locals still use the pub and they have a great food menu. Not the cheapest but good alround food and beer.

I stayed at the maypole a while ago and loved it. Have recently been back for a drink and i want to thank you guys for supporting cystic fibrosis charity (near to my heart) never seen a collection tin in any other bar, restaurant or hotel. Well done 👏

Popped for a lunchtime drink.
It was a popular place and the food looked very well priced.

We booked at short notice and was highly delighted with the accommodation. Modern and well appointed. We needed an accessible room because my wife has mobility issues so needed the appropriate facilities. Everywhere was clean and fresh.

Positives:-Nice place, pleasant staff, very clean, good value, excellent sized room, very good parking, lovely big dining room and my favourite a FANTASTIC Powerful shower!
Negatives: leave more than 2 caffeinated packets of coffee in the room, personally I have 4 in the morning just to begin my day - so better to give a guest too many, than not enough.
We were right at the front on the roadside, so a little noisy, but manageable, noise from bar below was minimal and not a problem.
Rooms was FREEZING at night so rather than work that out as you are about to go to bed (and don't want to wake up in the middle of the night stuffy and hot) it would be a good idea to leave the guests either another duvet or blankets, so we can regulate our own temperature of how warm we would like to be.
The breakfast - very cheap and nowhere near enough food to feed the 15 + guests that came down to breakfast. More of everything required basically and I would rather pay £10 a night more, and have the option of a decent cooked breakfast than self serve cheap toast, packet cereal, meats and cheeses thank you.
Finally the rooms are a great size but the TV is the size of a postage stamp - so you either need to provide bigger TV's (who has TVs 'that' small anywhere any more?) or binoculars to view it with please.
Overall - it's comfortable and it's cheap, so value for money if that's what you are looking for it's very fair value.
