The Olive Tree

We have been regular customers to the Olive Tree for over a year. We wouldn't have been regular customers unless the food and service was outstanding. Not only is the food delicious, the owners are absolutely lovely too - so welcoming and accommodating, not only to us, but also to our 10 year old daughter. Nothing is too much trouble; they always do their utmost to cater for our (sometimes) particular requests. They're totally awesome and the quality of the food that their talented chef produces is top notch, too. Highly recommend.

Came here for a birthday meal and it couldn't have been any better. We live in Devon and were staying in Wells for the weekend and would happily drive the hour and a half just to come here for dinner. Scallops were cooked to perfection, incredible food and lovely service from everyone. Highly recommended!

I need 6 stars! What an incredible place. Superb food, beautifully created. I wish I'd taken a photo! I don't have enough words to say how good the food was. Haven't had food this good since visiting the Oxo Tower in London! Lovely decor, lovely atmosphere, really friendly and welcoming staff. A wonderful little find. Definitely put this on your to do list if you're coming to Wells. Fine dining in a friendly setting.

Found this amazing little restaurant today as we looked around the city center and liked the look of the menu. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. The decor is very well done, The staff are all friendly and the menu was perfect for us. My partner and myself choose the roast beef carvery. This has to be the best we've ever tasted and enjoyed every mouthful. The chocolate orange dessert just round off the experience perfectly. I would travel back to the city just to eat there again.

Wonderful lunch for 3 of us on a busy Wednesday in July. There was a simple choice of 5 main courses (2 meat, 2 fish, 1 veggie) and 4 desserts (including cheese). Our mains were all beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, as were all our desserts. This was our first meal here under this 'new' ownership and we will be back with more friends..

We found The Olive Tree on our first night in Wells and chose this restaurant because of the menu. We had a delicious meal and the staff are amazing. Petra, the owner, was very welcoming and Simon served us our delicious choices. I had the Scallops with asparagus followed by lime cheesecake with cherry sorbet. On our second evening, we popped in to Wells again. The good food, staff and ambience drew us back here again and we chose scallops, as a starter, the chicken and wild mushroom risotto for main and the chocolate and orange dome for dessert. It's lovely to find somewhere that offers Vinho Verde on the wine list too. Tonight we chatted more with Petra and Simon and also with a couple of other diners. Great ambience, fun banter, amazing food ! We had a great time and will definitely come back another time. Loved everything ❤

Visited this place in April 2023 for family birthday Sunday lunch. The food was sensational (I had the roast chicken on the bone, which was stunning! Desserts were also delicious!) The staff were incredible- super friendly and very hospitable. Great experience and fab new addition to Wells! We will be back!
