My husband loves his Ales and usually micro pubs don't have much else in them. As I don't drink Alcohol I find that there is a good choice of soft drinks in here and they also do coffee. For those of you who drink but don't like ale they also do Lager, wine and spirits. The food is limited choice and once its gone its gone but it is brilliant so give it a try. Thursday night is Pizza night and we have eaten there several times.

We stopped here for lunch today. We enjoyed sandwiches that come with a good side salad and crisps, all for a great price. Staff were fantastic, providing service with a smile. The pub is in a great location next to a public car park, alongside the Royal Military Canal and on a public path leading to Hythe. The pub is immaculate inside and out where tables and parasols are available for eating alfresco.

Unit 1 is a fantastic place to come if you want a coffee, a drink or some food. Situated right next to the canal, its become our regular dog walk and stop. Staff are friendly, the local brewed beer is great and the various different food days keep things fresh. Mexican today, and the nachos were delicious! Highly reccomend.

During a walk along the Military canal we stopped in for food. Had excellent burritos from the "hatch" with drinks. Apparently the menu changes often. Very good atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff. Obviously caters for a large clientele of dog walkers.

Can't praise this place enough. Whether you're stopping off for a coffee, food or a cheeky glass of wine it's great. The staff are friendly and welcoming, food and beverages are high quality and reasonably priced. There is indoor/outdoor seating, under cover outside if it's wet. Smoking area for those that partake. Being close to the Hythe canal it's frequented by dog walkers, cyclists and ramblers. Great atmosphere for a celebration day or evening time.

Lovely hidden place close to a peaceful area and nice surroundings. Cosy atmosphere, kind attention and awesome food and beers at a reasonable price. Definitely great! I wish I lived closer.

So happy to have found this place. Beer selection was great and the The Silverback Shack burgers were so delicious. Love the seasoning on the chips and the coleslaw was really tasty. Service was super friendly and the whole place was really welcoming to kids and dogs. Even having little dog treats on offer! We’ll be back regularly. X

This is such a great place situated next to the Military Canal. We sat outside, it is super dog friendly and the space is lovely, not crammed but sociable. Staff were efficient, friendly but not intrusive. The food was outstanding, a truly great find.

Lovely fresh food (tacos) and equally lovely staff.... the house IPA is a must for any hop heads outs there. Keep up the good work 😊

So good in so many ways. Mostly staffed from the 3 families that co-own this inclusive pub. There is a real sense of community. Local real ales, craft beers, and lager are always on tap from the two onsite breweries: Hop Fuzz and Docker. Romney beers are 2 stops away on the steam train and Curious Brew from Ashford. Local cider is also available. Food is ever changing because guest chefs use their pop-up kitchen. Thursday is pizza day, £10.50 buys you a large, thin, and crispy base with 4 toppings of your choice. There is plenty of canalside parking, making this a popular destination for families and dog walkers all year round. Winter walkers warm up in front of wood fire with hot chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, or tea. Dogs are well catered for, too, with a water station, biscuit bar, and are welcome inside & out. I am so glad that this pub is cycling distance for me along the canal tow path.
