Last here 5 years ago and not disappointed. Outside the thatched roof has been redone and the interior has been updated creating a comfortable atmosphere. Friendly welcome from all the staff and a good variety of food to choose from on the Menu. We had Rump steak and Shoulder of lamb cooked in the Bertha (charcoal oven) - very tasty! Cool cookie Sundae was my wife’s choice for dessert, whilst I had my first Afogato - interesting but maybe I should have gone for the Artisan cheeses instead! Overall very impressed with the quality of the food and service, all at a reasonable price. Hope not to leave it another 5 years until we return!

My family and I have always gone to the chequers for the past 5 years for birthday celebrations! Never ever had a bad meal! It is always top notch! Highly recommend!

We turned off the M40 to find somewhere for an early Sunday dinner and came across The Chequers purely by chance. We were greeted by the friendly landlady and served two excellent meals very quickly and professionally. I would thoroughly recommend this place. Excellent food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Great end to a lovely weekend away.
