I was told about this pub by a friend who knows what I consider to be a good pub. He wasn't wrong. This hostelry has a new owner as it turned out. They're doing it up at present, but it is fully functional for wet sales. This is a proper local community pub, with a cheerful and friendly manager behind the bar. The beer selection is excellent, with a choice of two real ales also. It has a friendly atmosphere with friendly locals, dogs included. Well worth a visit.
Had a lovely experience very friendly staff good food and atmosphere will definitely be calling again.
Happened on this pub by chance travelling from Holmston Hall to Middlewich and it does not disappoint. In the process of refurbishment by the owners and as yet cannot comment on the food as the kitchen is a work in progress . Nice open fire in the bar, good ales, comfortable atmosphere.
Ab Fab 😎
Introduced friends. They enjoyed it A real oldie worldie sort of place. Real ale heaven
This is a proper oldschool boozer, the couple of pints of Butcombe original I had were kept exceptionally well. The landlord is quite a character and the locals at the bar were really friendly and welcoming. There is a really impressive array of taxidermy in some quite interesting poses, I got a couple of pictures. Well worth a visit if you pass by.
A walk back in time, we used this pub a lot nearly twenty years ago. A warm greeting from the new landlord, good beer, what more could you ask for.
Been visiting this pub (infrequently) for many years. The decor is 'evolved' traditional country pub. Cosy and welcoming. The locals are in fact part of the furniture. The Landlord - Harry - is a character , with a very dry sense of humour who doesn't suffer fools. On the other hand, he and the regulars are very friendly and he easily remembers what you drink even if you haven't been for months!
I can understand it becoming 'members only' during covid as his regulars are the lifeblood of the pub and with their health concerns it woud be best to make it their 'bubble'. Good on him for choosing to safeguard his customers.
Unfortunately it may all change as I hear Harry has passed away.
Spent 9 days at the equestrian centre down the rd an visited the pub most evenings fantastic country Pub ,friendly locals great beer , affordable prices & mine hosts Harry & Ros where just brilliant!! This is not a child friendly pub ,dogs welcome only outside which suited us but lovely beer garden & fab smoking shelter can't wait to go back ! We love you Harry with love from Yorkshire x
Just popped in for a quick beer one evening and thought it was a great pub. Good variety of beers and a friendly landlord.
It is one of my local pubs. Set in its old tradishion nothing modern in here but cozy friendly and welcoming. If you like the real traditional pub no frills. No children and locals friendley and welcoming. Please if you visit remember this place is not modern it is as it is but i can say it has the best smoking area any where local and welcoming to anyone
