Just visited from a cruise ship and happened to find the Black Dog. The place was incredible and the history goes back to the 1500s. Just for that, they deserve 5🌟. I wish I could have spent the entire day there. Best of lunch and 500 more year's.
Had dinner here, food was nice, service was fast, friendly staff
Oldest pub in Weymouth. Friendly staff. Food was excellent.Real ale and Lager are reasonably priced.Good selection of Gins to choose from as well. Entertainment on certain days. Dog friendly. Recommended
Great pub in the centre of town, good selection of ales and food ain't bad either. Well worth a visit or two
Absolutely disagree with the bad press, me and my wife visit Weymouth all the time and we always visit the black dog. Never once had a bad experience, great food, great beer, great atmosphere, lovely staff, clean pub highly recommend. Don’t believe everything you read just go in and try it yourself, trust me.
We always visit here when in Weymouth with our Dog Never had any problems with staff. I can see what they mean about the under 16s as some parents can't get the kids to behave in public places.
All the best to you and your team
The atmosphere was perfect for our night out. Went around for a while looking for a place to have a drink then came along the black dog which was a perfect find. Would recommend highly
what a little gem , home from home for anyone who loves a few drinks in a lovely pub reminiscent of a typical country pub in the sticks . Everything you would expect from the oldest pub in Weymouth . lovely old decor , beautifully presented, warm cosy and well attended for that reason . very cheerful, happy to serve staff . could not ask for more . food great with a wide choice of beers . silly not to pop in whilst on holiday.
Apparently the oldest pub in Weymouth & a nice looking pub it is too . Probably very cozy in the winter sitting next to the blazing open log fires , It was a warm day when we visited & there were no fires burning , I digress.
Good drinks & a handy location right in the middle of Weymouth & just a quick walk to the seafront & Beach ⛱
A very old pub close to Weymouth Beach with a fascinating history. The beer served was in first-class condition ( I had Timothy Taylor Landlord) and there was a good selection of choices to be had. We were very impressed and can recommend The Black Dog without any hesitation whatsoever.
