Crackin little alehouse situated at the bottom of the 199 steps with great views at the back over the river. Well kept ales and very dog friendly.

This will be the only review where I say I regretted buying chips ;) not because they weren't anything but lovely. We ordered a sandwich with salad an coleslaw each, and thought it has been a long day so ordered those chips to stop us feeling hungry. The salad was generous, so was the coleslaw portion and the sandwich was delicious the chips were lovely but we didn't need them because of the generous portions. The team were brilliant, go there for food any day that we aren't in Whitby, when we are keep away because we want a table :D

We had a beautiful lunch in the pub this afternoon. The pub was busy but we were able to get a table. The best part was the view over the harbour. The food was served very quick and it was hot. Absolutely loved the food and there was only empty plates at the end. I would definitely recommend this and will be going back next time in Whitby.

Great pub to grab a bite to eat and a drink at the bottom of Whitby Abbey steps. Friendly helpful staff, good selection of drinks and great food. Good view of the harbour also if sat in the back of the pub. Pet friendly.

Just back after a very enjoyable meal, I had lasagne & my husband had steak pie, both meals were very good & tasty. The bar staff were excellent & worked very hard. Only criticism is the fact they seem to stop serving meals by 7pm & turned a couple of people away, I'd have thought in today's climate they couldn't afford to do that but maybe they just can't get the staff as we've noticed a lot of places not serving meals after 7pm.

Dropped in for a drink on Good Friday, very busy but managed to get a table overlooking the harbour. Checked out the menu and decided on a sharing fish platter. Great decision the platter came laden with plenty of fishy delights including goujons, scampi, tiger prawns, crevettes and shrimp complete with salad and chips on the side. Really enjoyed this meal and plenty for two.

Visited a lot of times over the years but was a bit apprehensive this time after seeing some bad reviews on trip adviser. We needn’t have worried. The beer was good friendly staff and the seafood linguine was superb, probably the best I have ever had. I’ve never seen so much seafood in a linguine. It was wonderful. Also the Haddock and chips was ginormous and a better price than other establishments. We can highly recommend the board inn..
