Only ever had a pint in here which is ok & good service. The lighting needs dimming but lovely historical pictures & better in the daytime for a view.

Called in after a late evening descent of the 199 steps from Whitby abbey\ brewery very quiet on a Tuesday only a couple more people were in barman was very friendly struck up a bromance with our dog wilf old peculiar and XB on so happy days nice pup would be busy at the weekend would imagine liked it
Love this pub. Grab a drink or a rest before you head up the 199 steps. Under new management and they seem lovely and friendly.
While at the bar I fan myself with the menu.
The bar keep proceeds to blow in my face to "cool me down". I ask him to stop, he does it again. His colleague was embarrassed. His mouth smelled of beer. I assume he was drunk. Such a shame because the rest of the staff were lovely.
