Visited for the first time in years for a mid week lunch. Ordered the steak sandwich, which was pleasant, but the onions and peppers on it lacked flavour. They could have done with cooking a bit more as they were soggy rather than caramelised. Also a little more expensive than other pubs in the area, offing similar steak sandwiches but lacked in quality compared to the others.
Staff were lovely, and the service was great. However, for the price we paid and the quality received, we are unlikely to return.

We've just had a very tasty meal with a desert for £15.95. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We've been on the busiest of days in the past, and the service was excellent then.

Had a nice family meal, our children enjoyed their meals and desserts too. Unfortunately we experienced very slow service in what appeared to be not the busiest of times.
We had fore warning of the wait times from family members who've dined here in the past, and they were right.
It may be ok as a couple but waiting with hungry kids...well if you know you know!
So if you don't mind a 45 min to 1 hour wait after ordering then try it, the food was nice but I wouldn't say worth the wait.

Never disappointed! We have been many times; the staff are superb just like the food, and prices are reasonable. One of the best pubs within 5 miles of Runcorn. We love it.

I had a fantastic experience at The Tavern in Widnes. The car park provided easy access to the building, making it very convenient. As soon as I walked in, I was impressed by the great atmosphere and warm welcome from the staff. The bar and dining area were beautifully decorated and impeccably clean, creating an inviting ambiance.
If you're looking for a meal recommendation, I highly recommend trying the roast dinner. The beef and roast potatoes were cooked to perfection. The staff were not only efficient, but also professional and friendly, making my experience even more enjoyable.
The Tavern is a wonderful place to visit, and I can't wait to return for another delicious meal. If you're in the area, I highly recommend giving this pub a try.

First time in there today for some food and we were not disappointed. Food was lovely and fresh. I had sweet chilli chicken and it was delicious. My wife and daughter also loved their food, a carbonara and a steak sandwich. It was so good we booked a table for Sunday dinner for tomorrow. Excellent.

Expected a crooner , we were a bit disappointed it was mainly Beatles ( not the best ) will give it another try as maybe it was a stand in act … staff attentive , food hot and tasty , all in all good value

Great afternoon at the monthly Golden Oldies event at the Tavern today. Lovely food, service from friendly staff was very good considering how busy it was. Great two course deal and we managed a naughty pud as well. All this and an entertaining singer and bingo. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon with friends.

After living in widnes for 8 years I can't believe we've never tried here before. I presumed it was going to be same old standard pub good but actually it was very good. We had scallops for starters followed by beef fillet kebabs.
The food was home cooked and very good value. Would definitely recommend
