Tried this place totally random as was hungry and that was the closest place, and it's a nice place.
The atmosphere is great and the servers are very nice to speak to.
The food is very nice from what I tried, and will go again if I'm close by.
For basics tried the chips and gravy and it was nice, the thing that set it off more than other chippys was the Onions on top of the chips really added a different angle from the standard.
Also tried the chicken tikka and potato roll. Crispy pastry and chunks of meat and potato was decent and for £2 would easily fill you up. Something different.
The chicken kebab was decent with lots of chunks of chicken and flavours wrapped in a naan type bread.
The chicken burger was nice with the bread being grilled added another angle and taste.
Would recommend and well done to them for trying different things instead of standard chippy shabite.

The peas were tasty, chips a tad soggy but okay (although the gravy chips were fantastic). The fish had good texture, well battered and not too oily. Tasted great, and a good portion size for the meal for the cost.
Onee of the best places I've eaten. I visited with my partner for the first time last week. The prices are very good and the staff really are helpful and look happy, we sat downstairs. Lovely place to eat and also has a little play ball pool area for the little ones and some lovely fish tanks dotted around. I will definitely be visiting again xx
They serve the best chips with curry sauce. The only problem is that they charge 50p for each customer if you are eating in which is just insane.
Charging 50p on a single bill is fine. But if you have two or more people and each one of you are ordering something to eat in, then its gonna cost 50p each on the same bill. That's like a big no no for me hence we end up taking out our food most of the time.
Regardless of all this it needs to be mentioned that their food is fab.
Friendly staff, tasty food, fish was delicious and good portions.. Only minor point tried 5 tomato sauces bottles and was either too runny or too thick. I would recommend the lunch time special fish, chips and peas and can of pop £6.
This is honestly the best chippy I've visited in years!!! I had begun to think the art of good fish and chips had been lost but it's alive and well at Wallgate Chippy. Small cod & chips with peas and a brew set me back a very reasonable £4.50 and it's was worth twice that. Perfect traditional English grub, lovely light crispy batter, great quality fresh fish, absolute winner!!! Go there. Seriously, do!!

Sorry but this is the 2nd time recently that an order has not been completed. A few weeks ago I was in the chippy when the girl taking my order was too busy chatting to an off duty friend and missed an item from my order. On that occasion I wasn't charged as it wasn't written down.
This time it was an order via Just Eat. The item is on the receipt and we were charged but wasn't included.
We enjoy the food and have no complaints that way, but, come on folks, let's get it right please.
So I've never eaten here I don't like chips or potatoes, but today the girl who answered the phone and went next door to the kebab house to find my little girls bag with ipad amd all her weeknd clothes in I salute you. She saved my life literally. I did ring the Swan pub 1st but they wouldn't help so it's nice to be nice as I always say. I'm sure the food is amazing but for me the staff are so a thumbs up 👍
