Awesome meal last night. We eat here a lot and the food is always great but last night it was incredible! Couldn't fault it simply the best place to eat in Derbyshire. And the service was fantastic, especially considering how busy it was. By the way I highly recommend the pork belly. Nom nom :-)
We called in for a drink on Sunday afternoon and were soon tempted by the lovely looking plates of food we saw going past us. Great Ham Hock Terrine for starters, Carvery Platter for main, and a scrumptious chocolate thingy for dessert. All washed down with a couple of glasses of wine! Friendly atmosphere, efficient staff, good menu.
Last minute booking and glad we did.
Service was spot on, and food was really good.
Arrived early but was still seated right away.
The only downside couldn't park, so we had to park about 250m away. But that's probably Sunday lunchtime for you .
We came for a quiet afternoon of food and drinks but also to celebrate a special moment. The lady serving us picked up on that and without even being asked sent this to our table! The staff across the board were attentive and the service was amazing but this was really touching. Thank you :)

The food was great, we enjoyed breakfast coffee and a cheeky prosecco. Nice space outside at the back to sit and relax.
What a great place to eat! Beautiful pub/restaurant, the food was excellent (desserts very rich but incredible!), great service, big kids portions. I imagine during the day/summer especially being next to the canal that this is a busy place! We will return of ever back in the area.
We arrived here by accident but had a lovely meal over looking the canal and long boats. There is a good choice of beers too. Nice laid out beer garden.

Really lovely food and place in general. Definitely would like to visit in a summer day time as well to take advantage of the nice location on the waterfront.
Only thing I found jarring was the service staff's dress code. They look like school children in untucked white shirts. I thought they were customers at first. Then you've randomly got the bar manager serving you drinks as well who also just looked like a bloke on an evening out.
They also seemed to forget about us towards the end of the night and we had to ask twice for the bill.
We booked a large table in advance and soon discovered an exemplary level of service after arrival, at least, in the eatery part of the building. Our waitress definitely earned the optional service charge of 10%. Food quality was 4-5 stars across the board, everything was very good or better and well presented. Bar staff were also happy to do custom drinks orders at exceptionally low prices, a custom drink that usually costs £12-14 at most places cost just £8.40.
A lovely place for a few drinks, as there are always craft ales on and yummy cocktails, and the food is lovely, whether you're in the bar or restaurant. We always take the dogs to the bar area and the service is excellent
