Claymont Steak Shop

This was our family’s first time ordering from this location. The last few reviews are worrisome, so I thought it important to share my experience. We ordered pickup. The person on the phone taking my order was polite and repeated my order back for accuracy. The order was ready within 20 minutes and was a $60-$70 order. The food was delicious. The chicken cheesesteak was my personal favorite also the wings. I’m not a big cheesesteak kind of gal because I’m extremely picky with the type of steak used , this didn’t disappoint.

The nastiest cheesesteak I’ve ever had. My husband ordered a chicken cheesesteak and it had no flavor whatsoever, as soon as he picked it up from his plate it fell apart. The table where we were going to sit was dirty. This was on a Saturday, there was only one other couple dining in, I’m sure they had more than enough time to at least clean the place/tables. Don’t waste your time and money at this place.

We use to order from Claymont steaks all the time, even as of last night, 02/12/2022. And to say the least we will not be ordering again from them. Someone has changed the quality of the meat to the point where it tastes like dogfood! The flavor and texture that they once had, is no longer there! So disappointed, simply due to the change in the quality of the meat and the"new cost" . In summary, the product is below their standard that they set previously, yet the price still increases!!

Do not, do not, do not, do not order delivery. The last 3 or 4 deliveries I ordered took over 2 hours to be delivered (I live 15 minutes from the restaurant.) when I’ve called to ask for an update at the 2 hour mark, the response is always “we’re working on it” and then they hang up. I’ve filled out surveys after ordering and have never gotten any follow up on bad experiences. If you are going to order from Claymont at all it has to be pickup. It is very obvious that the management does not care at all about customer satisfaction.

Visiting from out of state and heard we must try a cheesesteak while in town. The food is very plentiful for the price, however it severely lacked seasoning. Salt, pepper, garlic, herbs…ANYTHING would have helped. Also ordered plain wings and assumed plain meant non-sauced but still seasoned chicken wings. But plain was quite literal as they tasted like nothing.

First time here and I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by the steak sandwich. The meat was tender and chewable. I’ve eaten at lots of steak shop throughout the Philadelphia Region and I can say that this is in my top 3 steak shop. My others in the region are Malin’s in Newark Delaware and the other is Leo’s Steak Shop In Folcoft, PA
