My family and I went for dinner here a few weeks ago for my 21st birthday meal. The restaurant seems small but it’s very cosy and comfy. The waiter we had was lovely! So attentive and made us feel very relaxed. We had the lamb of the day, the fish of the day and the burger. All absolutely amazing! The best lamb I have ever eaten! Service was very fast too. We also had the fish goujons to start, I had read a review saying they were amazing and they definitely are worth having! Absolutely delicious. The bread was okay a little dry so I wouldn’t say it’s worth having, although the olive bread had a very nice taste. We had sticky toffee pudding to finish and that was delicious as well, it’s bigger than it looks in the picture so one is enough for two to share! We had a great time and I would definitely recommend to anyone who is visiting Windermere or near by.

We were a party of 10 celebrating a 50th birthday, all our meals were wonderful from the starters to the desserts, lovely presentation too. All the staff were quick and efficient and really friendly. One of our party had a turn and Chris (their first aider) was fantastic in helping. I would like to thank everyone and keep up the good work 😁 we hope to be back soon

I rarely write reviews but the experience was excellent. We attended the restaurant and bar, which had a very homely relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff who were very attentive. The food it's self was simple yet delicious, so good in fact we went back the next day for more! A great treat for valentine's

The staff are very welcoming and the open fire is lovely to sit by in the restaurant. We enjoyed the eggs benedict for breakfast and the table d'hote menu is small but there is enough choice.
As we aren't very mobile, it was a bit too far for walking to the lake, just over a mile and a half. It was very convenient for the railway station.
We would definitely recommend it.

Only even been here to have Sunday roast but it has been very nice on each occasion, the staff sometimes seem a little overstretched but never impolite or apathetic. The Plated Sunday Lunch probably felt like the better option than the Carved Sunday Lunch [we have had both]. That being said they are both delicious and you will not leave hungry.

Fantastic stay, free onsite parking, room was clean, all the staff were lovely & the evening meal was the best I have had in a long time, breakfast was good as well, I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

We didn’t stay here but family and I had a super time here for a meal. Friendly and attentive staff and the food was delicious! Highly recommend the beef suet pudding!

It's definitely pricey, however the food and experience definitely matched. Luxury without being stuffy. Food was delicious and beautifully presented.

Myself and my husband stayed here for a long weekend this month and had a wonderful experience.
We arrived at the hotel an hour early and were able to park and check in early with no problem.
We had a standard room but the bedroom was very comfortable, fresh linen and towels, complementary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The shower was also great which was lovely after long walks!
The location of the hotel is ideally situated. Not far to walk to the lake and less than 5mins walk to lovely pubs, bars and restaurants.
The staff were so kind and helpful, breakfast was delicious and there was so much choice. The bar also had a calm and relaxed atmosphere for a late night drink.
We will be back again when visiting the lakes.
Worth every penny.

We have stayed at The Lamplighter several times which says it all really. Always made to feel very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. Lovely, well appointed rooms. Fantastic food. Great ambience. Perfect location. Staff are obviously well trained, professional and always very obliging. Special mention Dawn and Tiffany! Look forward to our next visit.

We tend to struggle going anywhere for Sunday Lunch because Mrs K does such a fantastic one I always leave disappointed! However that certainly was not the case here!
We dined in the bar area because we had our very well behaved Dog with us (we did check this when we booked)
The bar area was beautiful anyway & we felt like we were in a high end restaurant & not a bar area.
Our Folks both had the Sunday lunch with Ballotine of Lamb & I enjoyed the Roast Chicken. Mrs K is a veggie so she had the veggie option which was Nut roast topped with Goats cheese which she said was very moist as sometimes nut roasts are dry.
We then had Roast Potatoes, Mash Potatoes, Carrot & Swede Mash, honey roast parsnips, seasonal greens, Yorkshire pudding & plenty of gravy. Mrs K doesn't like Veggie Gravy so she asked if it would be possible to have cheese sauce instead & was delighted when they said she could.
We were too full but our folks still found room in their sweet stomachs for Sticky Toffee Pudding with local ice cream & Gin Cheesecake. All of our food was locally sourced ingredients & absolutely gorgeous
The food was beautiful & we are still speaking about it weeks later. We all said it was such a great meal & experience
We were also extremely well looked after by the Team who were all lovely. My Wife also noticed the high levels of hygiene & observed the Lady that was looking after us washed & cleaned her hands every time prior to bringing us drinks or food
I have to say this was one of the best meals we have enjoyed in the Lake District & definitely the best Sunday Lunch we have ever had. We will be going back when we are back in the area & would highly recommend this to anyone
Well done Guys

We went for a meal in the evening in the bar with my little Westie. The restaurant was charming, beautifully decorated the staff attentive and friendly. The food was superb and the best chips ever. Fabulous.

Great little dinner spot. Pleasant atmosphere for a lovely pub meal that’s unpretentious. We didn’t book a table and we’re quickly seated as walk-ins on a Saturday night.
The lamb special was absolutely melt in your mouth and the fish and chips was delicious.
Staff were great and friendly.

Room ok but bathroom no light and dated. Food excellent though lamb pretty tasteless. Dreadful parking with several people complaining.

Quite simply the best haddock, (thrice cooked) chips and mushy peas I have ever eaten. The other three members of our party were also impressed with their meals. Highly recommended.

Excellent all round. A very classy restaurant in beautiful surroundings. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the staff. We had Lakeland beef fillet with anchovies butter and a pork platter. Very tasty Food and excellent local ale at a reasonable price.
