Quite simply the best haddock, (thrice cooked) chips and mushy peas I have ever eaten. The other three members of our party were also impressed with their meals. Highly recommended.

Excellent all round. A very classy restaurant in beautiful surroundings. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the staff. We had Lakeland beef fillet with anchovies butter and a pork platter. Very tasty Food and excellent local ale at a reasonable price.

This small inn is located close to the train station on a quiet street. The rooms are quite lovely, decorated with warmth, care and authenticity. The dining room is equally attractive and comfortable. Our included breakfast was delicious and ample. The proprietor is warm, friendly and very helpful with a radiant smile. There are many tables and chairs outside for sun sitting and a beverages of choice. We only had time to spend one night there but it is memorable and we hope to return.

Great little dinner spot. Pleasant atmosphere for a lovely pub meal that’s unpretentious. We didn’t book a table and we’re quickly seated as walk-ins on a Saturday night. The lamb special was absolutely melt in your mouth and the fish and chips was delicious. Staff were great and friendly.

Myself and my husband stayed here for a long weekend this month and had a wonderful experience. We arrived at the hotel an hour early and were able to park and check in early with no problem. We had a standard room but the bedroom was very comfortable, fresh linen and towels, complementary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The shower was also great which was lovely after long walks! The location of the hotel is ideally situated. Not far to walk to the lake and less than 5mins walk to lovely pubs, bars and restaurants. The staff were so kind and helpful, breakfast was delicious and there was so much choice. The bar also had a calm and relaxed atmosphere for a late night drink. We will be back again when visiting the lakes. Worth every penny.

We have stayed at The Lamplighter several times which says it all really. Always made to feel very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. Lovely, well appointed rooms. Fantastic food. Great ambience. Perfect location. Staff are obviously well trained, professional and always very obliging. Special mention Dawn and Tiffany! Look forward to our next visit.

We tend to struggle going anywhere for Sunday Lunch because Mrs K does such a fantastic one I always leave disappointed! However that certainly was not the case here! We dined in the bar area because we had our very well behaved Dog with us (we did check this when we booked) The bar area was beautiful anyway & we felt like we were in a high end restaurant & not a bar area. Our Folks both had the Sunday lunch with Ballotine of Lamb & I enjoyed the Roast Chicken. Mrs K is a veggie so she had the veggie option which was Nut roast topped with Goats cheese which she said was very moist as sometimes nut roasts are dry. We then had Roast Potatoes, Mash Potatoes, Carrot & Swede Mash, honey roast parsnips, seasonal greens, Yorkshire pudding & plenty of gravy. Mrs K doesn't like Veggie Gravy so she asked if it would be possible to have cheese sauce instead & was delighted when they said she could. We were too full but our folks still found room in their sweet stomachs for Sticky Toffee Pudding with local ice cream & Gin Cheesecake. All of our food was locally sourced ingredients & absolutely gorgeous The food was beautiful & we are still speaking about it weeks later. We all said it was such a great meal & experience We were also extremely well looked after by the Team who were all lovely. My Wife also noticed the high levels of hygiene & observed the Lady that was looking after us washed & cleaned her hands every time prior to bringing us drinks or food I have to say this was one of the best meals we have enjoyed in the Lake District & definitely the best Sunday Lunch we have ever had. We will be going back when we are back in the area & would highly recommend this to anyone Well done Guys

Well located, fair rooms, good restarant, parking on site, pet friendly... has a lot of things going for it! Just note the somewhat unusual 11am check-out time and they tend to get rather snippy with you if you are even 5 seconds late, in fact, expect a knock on your door 15 seconds before the clock strikes 11 telling you to be out! -1* for that.

Excellent food and service. We ate in both the casual bar room and main dining room and both meals were fantastic. I’d pay to have a restaurant of this quality near me in central London. Some of the best fish we’ve had in this country. The soups were also excellent, as was the extensive wine list. Would love to come back and try a roast.

Roast dinner was awesome!! No complains with the food at all. The veg and potatoes came out on their own plate so you could take what you want rather than feeling over faced. Very tasty food, staff where very friendly.

My Father, Son and I had dinner here last night. The greeting from the Front of House staff was warm and welcoming. The overall presentation of the dining rooms were nice with the usual white table cloth and silverware presentation. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. To start, we shared a warm selection of Artisan bread with Lakeland butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My Father ordered the Catch of the Day which was Sea Bream Fillets and served with sides of his choose (which happened to be chunky chips and mushy peas). My son had Pasta with Tomato sauce and Artisan bread from the Children's menu. I had the Lamb which was tender, served with mash potato and mashed swede and carrots. The mint sauce and the gravy tasted lovely too. I enjoyed a lovely Black Raspberry Cosmopolitan cocktail too. Overall had a lovely time dining here and would recommend a visit.

Great food, great staff and a lovely looking place. We popped in for dinner this evening as we'd just arrived and were pleasantly greeted and shown to a table. Very clean looking and well organised, the tables were comfortably spaced apart and the vibe was relaxed and comfortable. I had the pork loin with orange and tarragon roasted carrots. In a word...wow. The pork was succulent and flavourful, and the carrots were exceptional. I had doubts that the orange would be too sweet but the tarragon takes the edge off, an absolute delight. The pineapple and coconut posset was a great dessert to finish but the shortbread seemed a little out of place with the flavours, perhaps a coconut and lime cookie/biscuit would be more suiting to pair. But I'm being pedantic.
