Are here twice during a trip to the Lakes. Both times the food was excellent and service friendly.
We had steak pie one night and then chicken, leek & ham the other, pies fantastic both times, lots of meat inside.
Nice chilled out vibe inside with a real fire, lots of seating as it's a pretty big pub

Whilst on holiday we decided to look for somewhere different from our usual evening meal haunts and opted for the Elleray Inn after reading some of the reviews.
Now the problem is that my other half, Julie, has an allergy to garlic so we asked before ordering and the barmaid checked. Unfortunately several things had garlic in them be it food or sauces cooked in or added.
We both opted for fish and chips and our daughter had the Margarita pizza.
When the food arrived we were stunned at the portion sizes being as big as they were.
The fish was battered nicely and cooked to perfection with crispness as should be. The chips appeared to be triple-cooked and were tasty.
Service was great with three of the staff coming over to ask if everything was fine - which everything was.
Some of the reviews claimed it took ages for food to arrive. Now being it was 5:15 when we went in and we were the first to order. So it was early and quiet.
I checked out some other orders going out into the bar area (Steak and Ale pies) and the portion sizes looked enormous… and I am glad I did not order as I do not think I could eat it… but next year I might try!

Lovely Pub, great atmosphere, lovely local ales, lovely staff. Lovely outside area. I also thank the lovely girl host from Sugar & Spice that recommended this pub to me.😊 Windermere is full of lovely people. So I’m coming back in two weeks 😊

Well what can i say a home from home. A great B/B. We could not fault the service, the rooms were spotless nothing was to much trouble, the food was excellent from breakfast to dinner. We will be definitely staying here again

Good location & although very near railway & bus station there isn’t any traffic noise. The Elleray is a great base for exploring the district without a car. Very comfortable & clean accommodation with the most excellent breakfasts & other meal options.
Very relaxing garden courtyard & amazing helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Well wow, we have found a little gem that will now be a regular. We popped in for some food after a busy day and were greeted with fantastic service at the bar despite being extremely busy. We ordered halloumi fries, katsu curry and the special hunters chicken burger and my goodness, it was the nicest, most comforting and well presented food we've had in the lakes. Just what we needed today.
We managed to thank the chef directly but it is to be noted how incredibly talented he is and how much the owners care about their menu and customers.
We will definitely be back soon - thank you. Date of visit 23/09/2023

Real gem of a pub. Big roaring log fire on the go, and actually has a live train timetable board for commuters. Loved this place and I'd say, one of the best in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Enjoyed a holiday weekend in the Lakes. Visited The Elleray for one & stayed much longer than expected.
Atmosphere is great, food was amazing and staff member Tiffany did not stop and looked after us all the time there, always asking if we was OK. Would recommend a visit for food & drink.

The lady in charge (we think) unsure of her name, was absolutely brilliant. Such good service, very friendly and welcoming. Such a nice lady, always did her best despite working alone at times. Room was clean, good size. Food was amazing and big portions too.

The friendly helpful staff really make this place a great stay. They helped lock my bike even though I was later to return. The breakfast was also very good quality, fresh hot toast too. Very good attention to detail !. Bedroom was comfortable, could be updated a tad but was very happy with location. Even parking was available nearby, or opposite for free overnight if you lucky.

Was staying in Windermere so called into the Elleray for drinks and food, we don't eat meat but found a reasonable selection on vegetarian and fish dishes, all meals and drinks were spot on and reasonably priced. If the weather is nice, you have the choice to sit in or outside in the courtyard, pleasant efficient staff and dog friendly, definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I stopped here (18/08 - 21/08) for our wedding anniversary. Nice hotel, clean bedrooms, good beer and food, generous portions and enough choices and a good beer garden. The staff were always courteous and friendly. Would stay again.
There is no carparking but we managed to park on the Station carpark, 5 mins walk away. Cost us £5.40 per day mid week and £7.40 / day for weekend. As we were only stopping 3 nights it was easy to pay through the Ring Go app.
The hotel is very central to Windermere with lots of shops and pubs close to hand. There are regular buses to Bowness and to the rest of the lakes.

A short stay in the Lakes on business and popped into The Elleray for dinner. Good selection for pub grub and great food to fill most people! Highly Recommended 👍

I didnt stay at this pub but visited for drinks and food.
Great variety of pints and other drinks, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Tastey good food which was priced accurately.
We visited twice during our stay in Windermere because it had a laid back local atmosphere which is what we like. Plenty of families and dogs there which speaks to the warm atmosphere :)

Hats off to the chef for making a fresh take on a vegan burger (Herby and breaded?) rather than a greasy fake meat patty. Old school vegan is just as nice if not better 👍 good value for the size of the burger too. Not bad.

Found this place on the third day of our vacation, our favourite pub. Comfortable inside and really nice outside seating area. Good service and reasonable prices. Recommended.

Great pizzas and puddings, and very good value. Also a nice atmosphere and a big screen for showing the football, and very convenient for the station. A great find!

Little bit pricey but good beer, a good selection of spirits and the staff are ultra helpful and friendly.

5 pound for a pint of hieneken is a bit steep, especially when it's £4.05 a pint at the ship in bowness, grossly overpriced

Enjoyed a lovely stay here. Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are a good size and really well equipped with all you need. The food was excellent and generous portions. Would highly recommend for a peaceful break, lots to do around or just stay in and relax.

Went for lunch with my mum on Sunday. Food was lovely! We ordered of the £5 menu (served from 12-3) the portions were huge! Mum ordered the soup and sandwich but didn't really feel like having the soup so we asked to swap the soup for chips instead and there was no problem in doing so! Food was fresh and really tasty!

I stayed in the b&b ! Lovely atmospheric country pub, dog friendly and close to train station (5 min walk). Rooms excellent size well furnished with quality bath/shower rooms. Surprisingly modern considering the age of the building! Breakfast was excellent and plenty of it . Will definitely go again.

Had lunch here on 2nd January.Lovely and cosy hotel, good food at very reasonable prices. Can't fault anything.Think some of the hotels/restaurants on the main road are too expensive because of their location. This place is just off the main road but glad we went !!
