Had a great meal here this evening we are not from this area but would certainly return when we are back this way... excellent food, good ambience great place... our waitress Kristine was fantastic and attentive. The food was of high quality and not overpriced
Had a fab lunch at the newly refurbished restaurant. Love the new decor...very tasteful. Food was excellent as were the attentive staff. Highly recommend !
Arrived early and seated straight away, very accommodating, food excellent as was the service. Well worth another visit not sure about the other reviews on here, maybe newer staff now
This is a very old building with an interesting twist to its interior, particularly the art work by Sarah Durston. As it's situated on a busy corner of the A30 it may be tempting to some to ignore it and pass by to somewhere more quaint. However, to do so would be a mistake as the food and service are first class and the inside comfortable and cosy. We've had a number of meals here and have never been disappointed.
Booked a last minute table for Easter Sunday- wasn’t expecting them to have any tables free at such short notice.
After reading some of the reviews here the majority of negatives seem to be regarding the service rather than the food.
We’ve only been here once, but the food was spot on (we each had a roast) and no complaints about the service.
They were running late which no doubt was due to it being Easter Sunday and kindly kept us updated when our table would be ready. Lovely open fire to sit next to too. Great atmosphere, will be back for more good food and drinks
They welcomed our golden retrievers with open arms ! Service and food was superb; and the atmosphere great. Having just moved to Ascot, this will be our regular 👍🐕🐕. Stephen
Overall a great experience. The food was lovely and the light batter to the fish and chips was a welcomed surprise. The peas were also delightful. The chips were ever so slightly not crispy but still all delicious as a dish.
The cider on tap was obviously kept well as was perfect.
The only minor (in bold) details would be the slight price to food quality on the other guests dishes and also a few more smiles from the staff. Even though the efficiency and professionalism was there, a little smile could go a long way.
I would strongly recommend a visit here and the food is delicious (slightly overpriced). Certainly will visit again!!!!
What a delightful place to celebrate my 30th birthday! 🎂 The team were all very kind, quick and accommodating; the plant-based menu was varied and all the options we 3 vegans went for were delicious, and the place was buzzing even on a Tuesday eve. My family used to come here many decades ago when it was an old pub, and all said it's amazing how much it's changed and improved - in a very tasteful way! Thanks for a lovely eve, folks.
Just down the road from our hotel. Quaint setting with lot's of lovely features. Lovely food, well presented. Great service.
It was such a good value lunch. Three course lunch for £19.95 plus drinks. The portions were small but enough to be full at the end of the meal.
Be careful to check the bill at the end as they tried to charge full price for my lunch. After I pointed it out, they apologised and it was all good.
Parking available and friendly staffs.
Booking for lunch is a must.
Visited on a Sunday afternoon. There is a separate vegan menu available but unfortunately no vegan option on the sunday roast menu.
There were 3 vegan mains on the menu - a salad bowl, a curry and a burger. The salad bowl was sold out which the staff member was very apologwtic about. The curry tasted nice although lacked creaminess as it didn't have any coconut milk/cream in the sauce. We had 2 portions on our table and the vegetables served in each portion was wildly different.
There were multiple desserts on the vegan menu (yay!) And the crumble was delicious.
Back for a second time in as many weeks. Fiest was Sunday evening roast which was great, and this week was burgers and pork belly with scallops from the al a carte menu. I'm sure we'll be back again.
Popped in on the off chance on a Sunday evening, and despite being busy, they had space for four. The wait was not too long at all. Food was really lovely, perfectly cooked meats. A good menu selection for the kids. The bill wasn't as big as expected. 2 rounds of drinks, main with extra sides, and puddings for the four of us came to £86. Lovely staff. Nicely decorated for the festive season and 2 roaring fires within our view. Will visit again. Many thanks.
Went in yesterday and had a lovely meal. Tom took care of us and his service was great as was the food. Will definitely be back soon
A lovely village pub/restaurant with a friendly, pleasant atmosphere. The food was fresh and cooked well. Service was good and friendly.

Visited 20/01/2023 for a spot of lunch. After arriving at approximately 3pm we were greeted by a lovely young lady, whose name I believe is Liz. After sitting at the bar and enjoying a pint of Asahi and Neck Oil, both pictured below, we moved onto a table nearby, and ordered some squid, beef dumplings, and a chicken burger. These were enjoyable and the service was excellent. Will come again.
Took my friend out for her birthday dinner as I really enjoyed this restaurant before. Once again I wasn’t disappointed!!! Food is absolutely amazing, served quickly and with a smile on the face!!! Place is really cozy. Highly recommend
Food excellent. Nice decor and atmosphere, good staff. No negative comments to be honest. Mains a little slow but it was busy so understandable
Great meal with friends. All the food was great and I had the calves liver and it was absolutely delicious. Another lovely evening spent here.
Lovely welcoming pub with great food and friendly staff.
Edit: Have visited many more times now hence the additional photos. Our favourite pub to visit in the area, fantastic food and service.
As with many pubs that try to be a classy restaurant, they don't quite make it. Food was reasonable quality but not up to the price. Service was very lacking with inexperienced staff. Warm champagne was served and when questioned, there was no thought of a solution just, " oh sorry".
