Beautiful pub in the centre of the Town, dog friendly in snug bar and the outside garden. A good variety of drinks, and a good food menu, which caters for vegetarian and vegans. The service was excellent and staff helpful and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
I had a lovely meal there today I would recommend, staff attentive and very polite nothing was too much trouble would definitely go again
Staying overnight at Wirksworth. Hadn’t planned on eating but called in for a drink in evening whilst walking the dog.
Quality of food looked excellent so decided to order. We had the steak & stout pie. PROPER pie fully encased with a good filling (not a dish with a pastry cap!) PROPER fresh cooked fat chips and fresh cooked veg. Excellent and very filling. Freshly cooked and hot.
Choice of 5 hand pulled ales as well into the bargain. Mostly local ones as well.
Came for bottomless brunch. Staff were busy initially but attentive and the speed of drinks picked up after the initial rush. Note - If booking via the website even when on the bottomless brunch page make sure to specify it is bottomless brunch on the note as the staff were unaware of this with our booking and seemed a bit stressed by this, however accommodated us well - the main worry for them was the mezze board which we weren't even aware was something you got on the bottomless brunch so it it was a very pleasant surprise (bread, cheese, meats and olives) and wouldn't have been the end of the world if they hadn't been able to do anyway.
Drinks definitely hit the spot, we'd recomend the pineapple rum cocktail. For food, again we were impressed and pleasantly surprised when another plate of the whitebait came out and our server told us the chef hadn't been happy with the first so sent another! I had been happy with the first so another even better plate (the battering was more even and generous on the second) was an added bonus!
Would definitely recommend, thanks for a great afternoon!

Great food, lovely staff.
Nothing is too much trouble.
And Dog friendly 🐕.
Will be back here again soon xx
Really lovely pub, dog friendly. Relaxed atmosphere, child friendly. Had lovely seating area, along with sofas and had blankets on each table. Nice and quiet when we went in. Service was brilliant. Food was delicious. Chips are lovely, burger was great, burrito was lovely. Also had sharer nachos which we delicious and light. Only down side, the chocolate brownie was definately not a brownie, really disappointed. The hot choc fudge cake was delicious (according to the little one 🙂) cake to approx £80 for 3 drinks, one sharing starter, 3 mains and 3 desserts. One of these was from kids menu.
The staff here are friendly and their service was excellent too. The food was top quality and reasonably priced. Everything was clean and there's a good atmosphere. Dogs are allowed in too, and dogs always make pubs better.
First time booking a table here, good variety on the menu. Ordered Steak pie & chips, didn't disappoint, very tasty meal, quality food. Ordered a pudding of sticky toffee & custard...delicious...Highly recommend xxx
Fabulous food on a cold Sunday afternoon. Special mention for the steak and ale pie that didn't disappoint on the amount of steak. Highly recommend.
Lovely team very welcoming. Made a nice fuss of our husky!
Food was very tasty and hot. Served promptly. All round great experience.
Would highly recommend.
We did try for food but the kitchen had closed (it was about 8:45).
Had a couple of pints instead which were really good, well kept and well poured.
There was a quiz on too, which kept us entertained.
A nice pub to visit.
Great local pub/restaurant. Good food with a wide enough selection to give choice but not so wide it can't possibly have been cooked on the premises. I've been a few times now and the service has anyways been excellent. Dogs are allowed and even provided with water. An all round good experience!
