Food was really good and plenty of it. Great prices too. Only down side was the lack of options but at the same time I liked that they put their efforts into making sure the food was quality.
Lovely Sunday here today. Home-cooked food delicious with great variety of veg a d gorgeous local lamb. Staff friendly, service great, fire roaring.
Five stars for this lovely old pub, with lovely staff, and a Sunday lunch to die for!!! Portion size above and beyond what you expect! Puddings we're lovely too, and the prices were really competitive, well worth a visit!

We have been going to the Anvil for many years and we highly rate this venue, hence the five star rating. The food and service is outstanding. Excellent choice of menu particularly for Sunday lunch. Choice of meats, and includes seven vegetables and two potatoes. Not forgetting the Yorkshire Pud
Went to the Anvil Arms for Sunday Lunch, it is so popular there are two sittings. Sheila the landlady is also the chef. The food is always superb and there is a good selection beers, wines and spirits behind the bar. You need to ring and book on Sunday's.
