The Mermaid

Hadn’t visited The Mermaid for quite some time until I dined there on Friday evening with a friend. I had forgotten just how lovely it is there, the warmth and scent of the open fires as you enter and the friendly greeting from Danny. The ambience is so relaxing and the food is just as delicious as ever, put together by chef Chris that night. (The sea bass 😘👌🏻) Danny went above and beyond in looking after us for the rest of the evening. Won’t leave it so long before returning!

My husband and I had a lovely meal tonight 20/10/23. We both had the sticky chicken starter and the Belly pork, which was excellent but what really made our night was the outstanding service from Danny, he was polite, attentive and professional and you could clearly see he took pride in his work. Thank you for a lovely evening

I'm a regular at the Mermaid. Service and food were spot on on my last visit. Really made to feel welcome. Atmosphere was nice and cosy. Danny took the time to introduce himself and was very friendly. Only slight niggle that I couldn't get my first choice off the menu. I had a back up and it was lovely and tasty, thanks to chef Sean. Overall great evening out. Cheers! 😊🍝

Our food was amazing. We started off with salt and pepper calamari with a saffron aioli. It was cooked perfectly and tasted phenomenal. We also had a side order of halloumi fires with a chipotle chilli relish. Those were very smooth and light. After that we had our mains of fish and chips and hunter's chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel was topped with a bbq and tomato sauce with smooth melt cheddar and crispy bacon. Then we get to the dessert course. We had a classic banoffee pie and the honey pot. Both were immaculate and not to sweet. Not to mention the staff was amazing. Our waitress' name was Julia. She was on top of making sure our drinks were topped and brought our items when needed, such as sauces, salt and pepper, etc. I highly recommend going here. Thank you Mermaid staff for supplying great food and service.
