The Hollybush Coffee Shop

Everyone working here is so friendly and lovely. We really appreciated the woman who gave us directions to the sweetshop! The food here is delicious and good quality for the price too, I would highly recommend it. My friend had chips which were served hot and I had cheese on toast which was amazing there was just so much cheese! The picture is only half of what I had! As a cheese lover I was very happy! I would definitely come back, the atmosphere is so lovely and we really enjoyed sitting down and eating and there's plenty of space too.

I had booked afternoon tea for 3 people for today, 11th July. We arrived on time and found our reserved table. A lovely young member of staff came and welcomed us immediately, and took our drinks order. She soon arrived back with our piping hot drinks, followed quickly by our afternoon tea. We were amazed by the amount of food we were brought, all beautifully presented, and delivered with a lovely smile from the staff member. A lovely selection of sandwiches on white and brown bread, beautifully fresh and tasty. Then a fantastic selection of cakes, and of course, scones with clotted cream and jam. We were also offered unlimited drinks. We just couldn't manage to eat everything, there really was so much, so we were brought containers to use to take left overs home. We had a wonderful time, and the lovely staff member made us feel like we were royalty, she was so lovely and helpful. I have been to lots of places for afternoon tea, and paid double the amount that Hollybush charge, but I really have to say that this was the loveliest afternoon tea I have had, and at a very reasonable price. We left the restaurant very happy and very full. Thank you so much to all Hollybush restaurant staff, and especially the young staff member who served us so brilliantly. (I wish I has asked her name, so sorry).

Friendly staff and food comes quick, however.... I would have given more stars if the waitress hadn't of served us food that was dipping against her clothes when she bought it to the table, I could see it was common practice amongst all the staff there, even had to send our sauce back for a replacement as it was fingered.

Food is good and usually quickly served. Very popular for breakfast and lunch, especially at weekends. The seating area is huge, which means you can usually get a seat, though at busy times it can be noisy and not a place to linger. A separate cafe recently opened on the ground floor that concentrates on sandwiches and drinks, but that doesn't seem to have made the first floor cafe any quieter! Also dog friendly!
