Review The Plough Inn - Wombleton

An excellent experience. The food and service were superb. The suggested wine pairings were very good. It was rather quiet midweek but the bar and restaurant are pleasant surroundings. The prices reflect the quality. Highly recommended. We shall certainly return.

Excellent Sunday lunch with family. We have followed Richard and Lindsey at all their establishments. We can guarantee the delicious fresh food cooked by Richard and the welcoming hospitality from Lindsey and her extensive wine knowledge. Worth the 130mile round trip , if they were nearer we'd be there all the time.

From the moment you walk through the door, all is warmth, great atmosphere and you know you are going to enjoy your time there. Lindsey is the perfect hostess describing the choices of food and wine pairings. Beautifully presented food which is simply so perfectly cooked and immensely tasty.

Really lovely pub - classic food executed perfectly. Really great Brut from the Yorkshire wolds too. A village pub at the front, which is clearly popular and makes a nice atmosphere when you walk in. Then a sweet dining room with comfy dining chairs and an open fire. We will be back! Ps huge delicious olives as a nibble when you arrive!

Our first visit tonight under the new ownership. We received a warm welcome from Lyndsey, who was also very knowledgeable about the food and wine on offer and imparted her advice without promping. The food was amazing just the right selection and perfect portion sizes to fit in 3 courses of the wonderful food. Will definitely be back.

Highly recommended! Lindsey and Richard are AWESOME and their food is to die for. We recently shared the Cote de Bœuf and it was just fantastic. The wine pairings are really cool too. We're so pleased that they have moved to Wombleton and it will be our regular "go to" place for superb food with great service.

Stopped for a quick lunch while out on the road. Had a great pint of Black Sheep Best on cask and a delicious steak and ale pie. Didn't have the appetite for a pudding, but from the awards I gather they are quite good. Quiet and comfortable.

Always a lovely friendly welcome and great food in a beautiful pub setting. The scallops on risotto starter and the 10oz flatiron steak are spot on!

Stunning discovery. In a world of bland pub food, this place REALLY stands out. Exceptional cooking with wonderful fresh ingredients. Not often I have to have three courses but couldn't resist. Definitely worth a detour or a drive if you're staying in the area (or even if you're not!!). Would certainly eat here again for sure,

Beautiful, clean village pub. Dog friendly.. which our Vizsla loved. Staff ALL welcomed us.. and gave us a very friendly, warm greeting. Locals all friendly and a great vibe of discussion and laughter. Food was superb. The steak pie was fabulous. More like a giant pork pie to look at, full of beef, served with a huge jug of wine gravy and perfectly cooked veg. Swordfish was also amazing. Served on lemon roasted potatoes, samphire and leaves. The pesto style crust on the fish was very tasty. Chips on the side.. the only bit not homemade (shame). To find a pub like this with a talented chef and great service is a rare thing these days. Will definitely be back again.

What a find !! Have stayed in North Yorkshire several times and only just saw the sign to the Plough Inn, so thought we'd take a punt; Brilliant !! From the moment I made the booking to the minute we left, everything was top notch. Great beer, food to die for, and friendly staff & locals, we can't praise this place highly enough. Top, top marks and recommend to everyone !! :-D

Don’t hate it been going for years now every few months but today finished us off ... went about 2pm for a Sunday lunch and ordered and nearly an hour later no food and not even busy ! Awful service and not even an apology just told the trout takes longer and people before us ordered trout ! So we had to obviously wait ... shame as we always recommend it

This is a hidden gem! Absolutely gorgeous food in a 15th Century Inn. The staff and owners were wonderfully helpful and accommodating. Portions were perfect and we could have stayed there all day. Just needs some rooms and I could have given it 6 stars.
