Beautiful, clean village pub. Dog friendly.. which our Vizsla loved. Staff ALL welcomed us.. and gave us a very friendly, warm greeting. Locals all friendly and a great vibe of discussion and laughter. Food was superb. The steak pie was fabulous. More like a giant pork pie to look at, full of beef, served with a huge jug of wine gravy and perfectly cooked veg. Swordfish was also amazing. Served on lemon roasted potatoes, samphire and leaves. The pesto style crust on the fish was very tasty. Chips on the side.. the only bit not homemade (shame). To find a pub like this with a talented chef and great service is a rare thing these days. Will definitely be back again.

What a find !! Have stayed in North Yorkshire several times and only just saw the sign to the Plough Inn, so thought we'd take a punt; Brilliant !! From the moment I made the booking to the minute we left, everything was top notch. Great beer, food to die for, and friendly staff & locals, we can't praise this place highly enough. Top, top marks and recommend to everyone !! :-D

Stopped for a quick lunch while out on the road. Had a great pint of Black Sheep Best on cask and a delicious steak and ale pie. Didn't have the appetite for a pudding, but from the awards I gather they are quite good. Quiet and comfortable.

Spur of the moment decision to call in as we passed. So glad we did. What a great place. Fantastic welcome from everyone. Great beer and a lovely outside area to enjoy the sun. Highly recommend and will be going out of my way to call again.. Hopefully with a designated driver! Thanks guys. Keep up the cracking work.

Great little pub, food was amazing, staff were friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant part was a bit flat but it was eaely evening so not busy yet. Will ask to eat in the bar area next time but definitely recommended.

Stunning discovery. In a world of bland pub food, this place REALLY stands out. Exceptional cooking with wonderful fresh ingredients. Not often I have to have three courses but couldn't resist. Definitely worth a detour or a drive if you're staying in the area (or even if you're not!!). Would certainly eat here again for sure,

I don't usually take the time to leave a review but last nights meal was just so excellent it needed the credit it so richly deserved. I suppose the other reviews should have left me in no surprise as to how excellent the food would be, but so often you hear about places being great yet they never quite live up to expectation. But last night can only be described as the epitome of Yorkshire hospitality, great friendly welcoming service, generous portions and as an added bonus the chef really knows what he is doing! It was the right balance of fine dining crossed with proper British pub food that so many places get completely wrong by focusing more on aesthetic and less on the taste. Can't recommend enough, go check it out.

This is one of the few times I’ve walked into a restaurant and been genuinely excited - from the reception I’ve received - about the food I’ve been about to get. Three words They didn’t disappoint The chef knows what they’re about and did it well - my only complaint is that I’m not close enough to come back here more often. If you’re even close to remotely passing, this is worth the trip We had one member of our party who is coeliac; with pre - warning, they were happy to go off menu and do something GF
