Toby Carvery

I had dinner here tonight and am very happy. I was greeted and seated almost immediately by Morgan and received outstanding service by our waitress tracy. she really went above and beyond to make sure we had the best customer experience possible. The food was excellent and our carver sparrow was very friendly and informative about the products on the deck. The only bad thing I can say is the potatoes were not crispy. Overall great experience and great service :)

Visited with family and the value for money was exceptional. 4 standard carvery roasts under £10 each. Gentleman behind the carvery was very polite, interactive and pleasure to deal with. Beef was excellent, incredibly tender and a very good choice of accompaniments to choose from. Our table server was also very pleasant and polite. Plenty of parking, spacious seating areas and very clean and tidy. Forget to mention the front of house who was also brilliant.

Extremely busy, in fact, probably the busiest I have ever seen a Toby in all of my visits. Presumably this was due to the latest half price promotion. According to staff they only found out about it on the day and had no time to arrange extra staffing levels. Whether true or not, they all performed their duties with a smile and a buzz. I can't fault any if them. In case you don't ask later.. big praise for our server Bradley. I would happily encourage him to come work at my establishment (obviously I didn't though).

As a delivery driver I was treated with most wonderful respect and customer service. Bailey made by visit to the downlands very welcoming and warm, offering a drink on arrival and a seat to wait. Is delivery drivers don’t often get to have a drink during our shifts, or even receive such a wonderful service as I did. A massive thank you to Bailey made my whole week. I can’t stop thinking about how great of a service I had. I wish there was a thousand baileys!

The food really is great. You were insanely busy - also great for business. A wish list request would be to have someone manage the ‘check in’ line to see who has a reservation you can seat immediately. You, like any other establishment, are under so much pressure with regard to finding staff but the ones you have there did 100% the best they could. I hope customers are kind to them. They deserve it.
