The Garden Restaurant At Worthing Ferring Garden Centre

We went for the Christmas lunch deal. Overall I would say it was very good . The food was excellent in my opinion. However there is a caveat . The starter was lovely but I would have preferred toast with my Pate not thin bicuits. There was plenty of Pate . Perhaps I should have read the menu ! The Turkey and meat was good , a good portion , the vegetables were plentiful and well cooked. Sprouts , cauliflower , carrots , parsnips , broccoli and potatoes , all well cooked and hot . Gravy was a little salty. Cheese and biscuits were plentiful too. Three different cheeses too. The staff were excellent but the food service was slow. I noticed other tables asking for their meals too . Our waitress was lovely and they all were . We were in the main restaurant area and the Conservatory was also being used. That meant our feet got really cold. Sounds daft , but I took my coat off but I still got cold. I know we are in a recession and times are hard but maybe , book less people , close the Conservatory and at lunch time don't allow people to come in just for coffee and snacks . Having said that I enjoyed myself but we left without coffee as we were all cold. We have not decided whether we would go again or not yet. However I have just had a great lunch there today. BLT on brown with salad and a side of chips. Good value , a little on the cold side but otherwise good.

A lovely garden to wander around. Lots of plants from shrubs to trees to soft fruit to bedding all at reasonable prices. Indoor plants statues and all gardening accessories seeds and composts available. Also on site a great cafe and restaurant, serving scones and cakes to full carvery and everything in between.

Visited highdown garden centre today. A lovely display of plants and shrubs staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Visit here not complete without a visit to the cafe. Very nice to have table service and not the usual up and down buffet. The curry was delicious perfect bombay potatoes and onion bhaji all homemade. Staff were brilliant .Highly recommended .

Nice size garden center, good choice of plants, not so good for lawn mower range. Ok cafe, limited menu but what they have is usually nicely prepared and helpful staff. Updated 10.08.23: Bit hit and miss today, we had one good meal and one very average burger which didn't seem as good as previous visit. Seemed like the value had been squeezed out by some accountant. Stale roll and small dry burger, over cooked greasy chips. Sure it used to come with a side salad but now has the tiniest pot of coleslaw. Otherwise the plants and general tidiness of the place looked well kept. Still keeping at 4 star as I feel the cafe let it down today.
