Yanwath Gate Inn

What a lovely, dog friendly find on our way passing through Penrith. Set in a sleepy village, this isn't your average pub grub! The food is delicious, the staff are accommodating and very nice. Large car park, nice outdoor area as well as interior decor & loos. Not only did the food taste amazing but looks gorgeous. It did take quite a while but well worth the wait. Also while the garden is beautiful just be wary of wasps in the summer!

Well worth a visit after a morning walking in Ulllswater area - delicious high quality food and I thought 2 courses at £20 was excellent value given that we are talking high end restaurant equivalent food here. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere - dog was made very welcome.give it a visit you will not be disappointed.

Wow! What a find! The Gate has recently re-opened and we were absolutely blown away by the food. Much better than any food offered in our hotel (Another Place). Reasonably priced. Lovely service from the bar staff. The food was outstanding and something I would expect at a much fancier restaurant. The Gate delivers this, but maintains its Pub atmosphere - a must visit.

Brilliant pub. We popped in expecting to just have a drink but after seeing the menu we could not resist staying for food. I had the beef and my partner had the halibut. The beef was cooked to perfection and beautifully rich, all parts of the dish worked so well together. The halibut was also packed with flavour and the surprise star of the show was the fried greens which were phenomenal. The drinks were also much cheaper than I would have expected with such high quality food. We were sat in the lounge and it was just what you want from a country pub. Nice low lighting making it feel cosy and welcoming. The staff were all very welcoming and could not have been more helpful considering we had no booking and they were super busy during their opening week. We are already making plans to come back and try more of the menu.
