Small plates with fantastic flavors and textures! We had crispy pork, duck liver mousse, probably the best beets I've ever had, a raw scallop pizza, grilled octopus and lamb carpaccio. I don't think you could go wrong with any selection. We sat at the chef's bar and were impressed with how many cooks they had and how seamlessly everything was plated. The wine list was exquisite too. If you are in York, book a table at Skosh.

I stopped by this small lovely place for the end of my visit in York and it was an amazing place. We didn't have enough time to enjoy all the dishes so we tried 5 of them- fried califower, fried chicken, spicy beef tartar, chargegrilled Octopus and lamb belly. Fried califower- it's crispy outside but so tender inside with all the amazing spices. Fried chicken- it might be the most plain dish of these 5 but was pretty tender enough. Spicy beefy tartar- my favorite one from the 5. It's just so amazing with fresh beef and tasty sauce. Chargedgrilled octopus- it's a lit small compare to the price but the octopus was really tender. The lamb belly- it's tender and juicy. The only part I didn't like it that much was I still can taste the stinky part from the lamb. The service was great and the interior was cozy and nice. I really like this place and will come back if I am going to York again!

Went here on our first night visiting York. Very inventive, modern tapas with a bit of an Asian flair. The food was all quite flavorful. Very friendly service with good recommendations for both wine and food. I might recommend reservations as there was limited availability when we dropped in on late Sunday afternoon.

Beautiful food. Gorgeous wine. The attention to detail was just fantastic. We absolutely loved it at Skosh. I recommend for everyone to try the hen’s egg. It was a delightful surprise and not what I expected. If you find yourself in York, please please please get booked in here. You won’t regret it!

Very good food and great selection of wines at this friendly Michelin bib gourmand restaurant. Excellent value for money. Highlights were the hens eggs, lamb dumplings, and calamari. Potato tower is a must.

Me and hubby have been wanting to visit Skosh since we read Jay Raynor's review some years ago and it didn't disappoint. When it says 'small plates' there is more than enough to share between 2 people and unlike some other 'small plate' establishments, you do not leave hungry. Even so, it isn't 'style over substance' either, every plate exploded with taste and was beautifully presented with little surprises hidden here and there (I won't spoil the fun). And it's not only the food that delivers, a welcome change is that the majority of the wines can be bought by the glass so you can either stick with what you like or change it up with what you are eating (can recommend the 'Amstramgram Pomone' which went with all the savoury dishes we had and the Gruner Veltliner, which paired beautifully with the Baron Begod cheese and truffled toast!) We sampled around half of the menu so we have the joy of looking forward to a return visit to taste the other half (or maybe even a completely new menu?). Book your table now:)

This is an outstanding, terrific solid gold taste sensation. Must be the nicest place to eat in York, and I've tried quite a few! Unassuming yet sophisticated cafe vibes bely a hardworking kitchen and waiting staff to bring you magnificent menu combinations throughout your meal. I'm sure the menu changes regularly but the char siu belly pork with gooseberry and baby gem was mouthwatering, plaice in tandoori butter with pureed lime pickle also exceptional and even the humble Jersey royals were elevated by the taste combos of marjoram and spring alliums on offer. The green beans with pickled watermelon, Thai basil and satay cream was gorgeous too. Sourdough bread fresh and warm, served with butter and gunpowder salt. Yum. Decent wine selection here too and cocktails looked pretty good - I'd have had one if it wasn't lunchtime, but I was considering it... Look at the attached menu, see the photos and go and eat here. I'll be back.

AMAZING FOOD! We absolutely loved every dish and wanted to lick the plates clean. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and really add to the experience. Every dish was 10/10, highly recommend the crab papads, garlic brioche, duck, hake, potatoes, asparagus, pork fritters - everything. Would come back tomorrow if we could. We ate here and at Roots and would choose Skosh every time. Can’t wait to return!

Where to begin. Skosh is an experience worth the hype and money. Don’t skip the magical hen’s eggs and be sure to order the Jerusalem artichoke and salt-baked celeriac dishes. The crab papads didn’t have much flavor. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive throughout our meal. To note, I do not recommend reserving a “kitchen” or high top table for your meal because the tables are quite small and the tall seats are not comfortable for a full dining experience. It was however fun to see dishes before ordering them. Highly recommend Skosh; be sure to reserve!

As always, an absolutely exquisite experience. I always look forward to coming here and seeing what's new on their menu. And the Hen's eggs are still as amazing as I remember them!

Great experience eating out at Skosh - incredibly tasty, fresh ingredients perfectly paired and presented. Very friendly and knowledgable staff that were able to cater for (and understood!) coeliac disease and lactose intolerance. Thank you for a lovely dinner!

Skosh: A Gastronomic Delight in York Skosh, a prime eatery nestled in the heart of York, is an absolute must-visit for food enthusiasts. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the fantastic and cosy ambiance that enveloped us. The staff at Skosh were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, guiding us through an unforgettable culinary journey. The journey began with a revelation - the "hen's egg - summer field, onion & px sherry." This dish proved to be an absolute gem, a perfect choice to kickstart our multi-course experience. We discovered that sharing was encouraged for all other dishes, and we eagerly indulged in the tantalizing creations that awaited us. The paratha with whipped aubergine brinjal & curry leaf was a delightful combination of flavors, showcasing the chef's skillful mastery. The saddleback pork dumplings, with their tomato, mint, and coriander Orkney infusion, were an explosion of savory goodness. One dish that left a lasting impression was the crab papads with fennel and sorrel. The crispy lobster roll with pickled ginger provided a delightful contrast of textures and tastes. The sprouting broccoli tempura, accompanied by salted chili and lemon tahini, was a revelation in vegetarian cuisine. The grilled asparagus, with its yuzu kosho, binchotan cream, and furikake, offered a harmonious blend of delicate flavors. Finally, we savored the spice roast lamb belly, perfectly complemented by pak choi, pomegranate, and pickled onion, bringing our food fiesta to a satisfying conclusion. To enhance our dining experience, we enjoyed the exquisite Rum Lassi cocktail, crafted with expertise and finesse. Its impeccable blend of flavors proved to be a true gem, so much so that we couldn't resist having a couple more. Skosh in York is undoubtedly a culinary gem that deserves every bit of praise it receives. The exceptional ambience, coupled with the knowledgeable and attentive staff, creates an environment that enhances the enjoyment of the meticulously crafted dishes. Our gastronomic adventure at Skosh was an unforgettable experience, leaving us with a longing to return and explore more of their culinary wonders. No wonder for six years consecutive its Michelin recommended restaurant.

Amazing food and service. They were kind enough to accommodate my weird coriander flavour genetic as the menu hadn't started it was coriander. Thank you. The only downside, which is out of their control, is how open plan the floor is so if there's a load table in you know about it.
