there's always a line of customers anxiously waiting to get in and place an order for the most delicious gelato you can find. Without a doubt the best place to stop for a sweet treat while shopping and browsing the many shops and booths at the Shambles Market! Very happy we found it.

The baker here is one of the most talented and hardworking individuals I’ve known. She churns out some lip-smacking Gelatos and cakes at Roberto! Absolutely cannot miss if you are in this part of town!

Just happened to be walking past Roberto today, and I was drawn in by the promise of authentic Italian gelato. It did not disappoint! I queued for a couple of minutes, and decided on one scoop of Bacio gelato in a cone. The combination of chocolate and hazelnut was perfection, and there was nuts and chocolate pieces in every lick. The quality of ingredients used is clearly incredibly high, and I will definitely be back for the salted caramel (and mascarpone 😜), asap!!

In weekend, they have pistachio gelato which is my personal favourite. It is extremelyyyyy nutty and smooth. Must try item!!

By far the best gelato I ever had, consistent quality and very charming staff. Would highly recommend getting a gelato cake, the pistachio one I got myself for 25th birthday was a childhood dream coming true!

Tasty coffee & walnut cake at Roberto’s in York.
I had the coffee & walnut cake. It was well balanced in taste and not sickly sweet.
They do a nice selection of other baked goods and also ice cream which is well reputed.

Well, we almost resigned to visit this place because of the long queue outside of the cafe but... fortunately decided to wait and had a look inside. Very small cafe with few tables and limited flavours of icecream but there is something more than that. What makes this place extraordinary is idea and way how those gelatos are made. For some visitors it might be another stop while walking through this wonderful city, just another good coffee or dessert. But if you look a little bit closer, if you realise you've just tried a gelato that will never be the same again, which changes every time during production, you will find out this cafe is unique and has a soul. This is what I expected from magical city of York - magically sweet Roberto's cafe.

Incredible ice cream gelato shop in York!! Truly phenomenal taste with so many different flavours that keeps changing with different seasonal produce! Staff members were lovely and despite the small que it was so worth it :)!! Staff were really nice and it is truly one of a kind gelato in York. Highly recommend it!
