We were lucky enough to have a table at the last service at The Park. We have been to the restaurant several times including getting married there two years ago. Adam’s food never fails to delight. The layers of flavours and depth of quality is consistently and simply outstanding. This is not the last time that we will visit Adam and will definitely follow him when he lands at his new project.
I’ve left reviews before for The Park Restaurant but hadn’t got round to doing so after our last visit in November 2019. Now knowing that Adam has left to go on to pastures new, I wanted to complete our journey of his food at Marmadukes, having followed him from Sutton on Forest quite a few years ago now! As usual, the tasting menu was perfection, the FOH staff (Kat!) as welcoming and friendly as ever (as was everyone) and an excellent wine list. We loved all of the courses we had but on this occasion my favourite was the guinea fowl. But the bread and butter!!!!!😋😋. We have enjoyed every visit we’ve had to The Park and literally have taken most of our family and friends there, who have then recommended it to their friends. Adam often comes out to chat to us after service and I’ve had a few special cakes made for birthdays, a thoughtful gesture (one year I also got the plate!). We are very sorry to see Adam leave York but I’m sure his new venture will be equally or more successful. We could never understand why he didn’t get a star there - maybe his time is now coming? Thank you and good luck Adam, we’ll see you soon I’m sure ⭐️ 🍽🥂🍷 👨🍳
The positives - they only take 20 guests so the service is good and I found the food to be of a high quality. The setting is of a high quality too! Wine selection was good and reasonably priced.
The negatives - there’s no parking space. The greeting wasn’t great it was a bit impersonal. They don’t do cocktails which is really disappointing, if it’s high dinning then this should be a must! It took a while to get drinks while we were waiting. We weren’t given any snacks like nuts etc while we drank them. At the table, wine was poured once the wine was served but I had to top up everyone’s glasses through the meal. I also had to ask for water a few times. I think they need to be a lot more attentive.
Enjoyed the most gorgeous meal once again for a Christmas get together with friends. Great service and atmosphere in the restaurant. Couldn't fault what was served to us...all 7 courses were out of this world! Just heard the chef and team are moving on to pastures new, will definitely be keeping tabs on where to go to keep tasting such delicious plates of fine food!
Simply one of the best taster menus we've had and we had the vegetarian option. Warm welcoming staff very attentive food delivered promptly and enjoyed e very dish.
Only criticism the genre of the music, 90's indie not quite in keeping with the ambiance.
Wow. The 7 course tasting menu was out of this world. Thoroughly enjoyed every course and ate every last bit. Had the cheese course as and extra too. Relaxing environment and the staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. Would recommend and can’t wait for our next visit. Worth every penny.
Blown away by another gorgeous collection of dishes. The attention to detail on the presentation and flavours were incredible
I have been to The Park on more than one occasion and choose to have a celebratory meal here to mark the end of my career, with special friends. We all had the full tasting menu, with cheese, and the wine package. Each course was a complete knock out and it would be difficult to say which was the favourite course. The meal started well with the Squash, Mascarpone and onion starter which was divine and ended with two delicious desserts, the favourite being the Chocolate, Blackberry and Pecan. I think it is worth noting that not one plate or bowl returned to the kitchen had a single scrap of food on it. All the complimenting wines were excellent too. It was the first time my friend, and his wife, had experienced a fine dining experience and both loved it. Both also commented on the relaxed atmosphere, and attentive staff. My friend later confessed he was worried that it would be too "stuffy" and he was pleased to be wrong. We can't wait to return to this restaurant.
Those who know me understand that I love great dining experiences: having been to a couple of Michelin star places in Edinburgh recently, I have to say that tonight (and on many previous occasions) Adam Jackson has delivered food and wine that comfortably surpasses these recent foodie adventures......honestly it isn’t close: delivers on every level......appearance, taste and quality. The matching wines are wonderful.
It is only a matter of time before Michelin recognise the best kept secret in York.
We had such a lovely evening, the food was incredible in a wonderful relaxed setting but attentive and friendly staff
So this was for our Christmas party. The setting is good comfortable relaxed unlike many fine dining restaurants. We chose the 4 course lunch with wine. From the minute we arrived we were well looked after but not suffocated with niceness which was refreshing as we were 3 guys having lunch felt just right. The knowledge of the sommelier was great they took us on a real journey, the food was unbelievable 1 of the guys has not done fine dining and was blown away can not recommend this place enough if you are visiting York just step off the beaten track and give this place a try you will not be disappointed well done and thank you guys.see you soon
Third year in a row visiting The Park Restaurant and each year seems to top the last. A 7 course tasting menu where each dish in itself is a masterpiece makes this the best restaurant we’ve ever eaten in the whole of the Uk. Particular highlight is the Guinea Fowl with Jerusalem Artichokes and Hen of the Woods which turned out to be the tastiest mushrooms we’ve ever eaten. Also worth the extra cost to do the matching wines as the wine expert is herself a genius in what she matches as they are perfect. All in all totally brilliant. Thanks again to Adam and the team.
It’s a full night out experience, this is a meal not to be missed !!! Not a quick bite to eat and run, it is a experience, we had a gluten free person in our party and every course we had she had the same but gluten free and the best meal she had every had, nothing was too much trouble the waitresses worked amassing to keep the beautiful dining room running like clockwork, noting was too much trouble and every course was better than the last , photos do not do it justice xxxx 5 stars xxxx
We all very much enjoyed the 7 course experience. How anyone can complain about the size of the courses, I have no idea! Seven courses is a lot to eat and the four of us just struggled through the seventh course. The pescatarian meals were lovely. This is a great way to spend an evening. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
I am rarely in the mood to gush about a tasting menu having, had an average experience behind the curtain in Leeds and been Skoshified in York, I'm elated to rate this my new fav foodie spot. Seven on the most meticulously planned and executed courses I have rarely had the pleasure of experiencing were served with great skill. Well informed about the menu without the typical pomp and complication, but attentive when needed - these waitresses were a complete delight. From butternut soup to halibut to chocolate and berry dishes, every morsel was a delight. I'd recommend Adam Jackson's menu to any self respecting foodie. Convenient location with sufficient parking, pity about the cracks in the ceiling/wallpaper and a surprisingly unwelcoming entrance hall. Pity the chef doesn't have a hand in the decor hmmm
Another wonderful meal at The Park. We chose the 7 course taster menu which was a masterpiece in taste and presentation. Yes the courses are small but taken together build a feast which is certainly satisfying to most people. The only disappointment was the cheese bread was no longer served which was one thing we had been looking forward to.10 out of 10 for design , execution and service and great to park on the doorstep!
I recently came to The Park with a large group of colleagues for a work dinner, considering there were 15 of us I thought a tasting menu might have been challenging, but to the contrary the quality of the food was the same as if we were a table of two. We were made to feel very welcome and the whole evening felt like such a treat. The food was sublime as usual - the marmite butter being a particular favourite even amongst Marmite haters! Quite a few of my colleagues actually said they would book to come back with their families, despite not living in the area! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Visited the restaurant with a group of friends for a catch up. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely top marks for the playlist! Kat was a fantastic host nothing was much trouble and our wine glasses were always full. Each course had such an amazing balance of textures and flavours still can't decide which was my favourite course. Each dish was explained in detail and any questions we have were answered. Adams food is the best in York. The service is professional but not stuffy or awkward. I can't wait to visit this restaurant again very soon. Thank you Adam, Kat and team for a memorable evening it truly was fantastic
Really good service from the staff who know the menu and are very attentive. The food is very tasty and there were some stunning flavours among the seven courses. However the portions even for a tastinenu are ridiculously small. The fact they offer an additional chargeable cheese course speaks volumes! For flavour and skill great but for feeling satisfied and receiving value well they need to do more
Very small portions even for taster menu. Left hungry. Long wait in between courses. Waitresses were very nice though.
